1969 Road Runner preservation

Without a doubt they are the hardest and most rewarding cars to be part of. I'm always on the hunt for them. I'm working on a 59k mile sunroof GTX currently, I just started a thread on it as I start to go thru it, take a look if youre interested, in in the owners project forum also. I wish the paint was in the same condition as yours but I'm hoping I can get it "close" only with more patina. So glad to see others putting in the effort to keep them as original as possible

Very cool and rare GTX! I see that you are also working on a 62 Cadillac. I have been on the lookout for a Cadillac for many years and two years ago. I came across a 27,000 mile one Owner 60 coupe Deville. Except for one re-spray in the 80s. It is a unrestored time capsule. Good luck with your GTX preservation!
Thanks
Pat

Cleaning the carpet for the first time in almost 56 years with my wife’s little green machine! I probably shouldn’t tell her;-)
Thanks

Vinyl top cleaned up great! And not one rust blister detected Under the vinyl. This would be my first rust, free vinyl top car:)
Thanks

Nice Pat! I've found, after 35 years, the best cleaner for a top is "Scrubbing Bubbles" shower cleaner. No matter what I used previously it always went back to gray looking. I cleaned the Bird top for the Aero Reunion in 2019 with scrubbing bubbles and it's still as Black as the day I did so.

I will try the scrubbing bubbles next time if there’s a color change. The good news is this top is not sun faded. It was just 35+ years of dirt. I went over it twice with simple green and then again with Murphy’s oil soap. Both with the power brush.
Thanks

I ordered a few yards of the center grainy vinyl from Legendary. And had a local auto interior shop replace just the seat panels and they turned out great! Next week he’s going to do the seatbacks. I saved the original cracked up vinyl pieces so I can lay them on top at the survivor car show;-)
Thanks
Pat

That’s great! He really did a nice job when I used him and has a great mindset towards quality.

Time for the RR to go on the lift, so I made the Fury a roller and put the body on. I will put it in the other shop for a few months.
Thanks
Pat

Bronze wool for the chrome. Compound and black wax to fill in the rust around the rim and they look pretty darn acceptable. Will be taking the wheels in to get the new tires installed this week. I’m sure my OCD will kick in and make me clock the tires to the wheels;-)
Thanks
Pat
