1969 Road Runner

Lol, that guy is going want $12k plus. Body in grey primer means there is body work and bondo in it, I would guarantee. And who just parks a running car in the middle of their yard? The 6 pack setup is a plus as is the 440 but it will need a rebuild. The T/A ducktail spoiler is a nice touch. I wouldn't even bother with an offer.

"Barrett/Jack sells them all day for $75,000 to $100,000 with a 6 pack restored"
The second the idiot said this, I'd have simply turned and walked away....
Yup....I got that from a guy selling a 72 Cuda....
I never spoke another word....I just walked back to my car.
Well, I might have said no thanks. ..

That car looks like it has been around and once you get digging into it will probably need a full blown resto.

Found out from a relative some more info: They drove the car to town, the car would not start and pulled the car back with a chain about 7 years ago. The man that owned the car died about 2 months later. The car was given to the daughter, the man I spoke with is her brother in law.I spoke with her yesterday evening, she is "researching" the prices. She wants me to inspect the car and give her the results. Sometime this weekend my son and I will smoke it over. Hopefully we can settle on price. I would like to have the motor.

Regardless if you make a deal or not, we number guys would appreciate the data from the car. I am intrigued by the engine. When you do an inspection, see if you can get the VIN from the block and the EAD.

Value, depending on parts that are usable, $3-$4k max.

Update on the 1969 Road Runner. My oldest son and I was given permission to do a real good assessment of the car. We brought a floor jack and lifted the car. Trunk extensions are good, still not able to open trunk (no key), lower quarters has some bondo over usual rust areas, middle and upper quarters good. Rust in the lower corners of the doors.Passenger fender bondo in lower area. Floor pan has a old homemade patch over a 1 inch diameter hole, some surface rust but not to bad. Frame rails are all good. Inner fender wells on the front are good. We were told the reason the fender tag was missing was due to an accident and replaced with a salvage fender. OK, for you number guys, attached is some pictures of the engine numbers, some input from the experts will be appreciated. The engine has a small damper as a six pack should, date code correct on block, six pack carbs and intake are correct part number. We were surprised to see it has a Dana 60 rear end. Was told the drive train was installed about 25 years ago from a yellow totaled out car, info from a family friend. With the type air cleaner it has will help ID the donor car. Overall we feel the car has good potential with the body being in better shape than expected. VIN number RM21H shows it was a 383 car. Some of the previous commentators has thrown the towel in on this Mopar, however these cars are getting scarce we believe we have a chance to save another one for the next generation (my 25 year old)

The fender tag is not attached to the actual fender. (Bullshit alert going off!)
Even if it was, it's 2 screws. Someone F'ed up.

Would bet half my ciks that the body codes are either gone or don't match the dash.

I think the same, however this family has owned this car for 41 years and that many years ago removing a tag from a mashed up fender and putting a fender tag on a junkyard Satellite fender was not of high importance in the rural South. The car has a title that matches the VIN number and the Radiator support so that satisfies me.

We spent about 1.5 hrs inspecting the car and 30 minutes speaking with the deceased owners wife and brother in law about the car's history. The VIN matches radiator support numbers and the title that dates to 1977 with there names. I'm satisfied with that. Now just getting the daughter who is the current owner to settle on a price with me. This car is in better shape the most I have looked at in the last 5 years. If purchased this will be my 4th 1969 Road Runner and 6th Roadrunner so far that we have owned.

What's above is good advice....just to be sure, I'd double check dash VIN vs. radiator core support VIN vs. trunk lip VIN. It's almost for sure what it seems...a 383 car with a 440 six pack. The car is not original, is not an original six pack car, is #5 condition vs. Barrett Jackson #1/#2 condition, etc. + it's not a real six pack or hemi car.....so above prices seem about right...it will cost a ton to restore.

Having said all that, I like the car. You should be able to look at the flat pad, front of engine block, driver's side front corner & see "440" + a letter or other stuff. That info would help. Also, get a flexible mirror on an antennae and look on the side of the engine block, under the exhaust manifold (I "think" driver's side) and you should see a date cast into the block...eg 6-13-69 or something like that. That would tell you the manufacturing date of the engine.

'69 440 six pack motors have small rods & are internally balanced.....so.....the harmonic balancer should be thin (1"'ish) and be symmetrical (no offset weights at all). '69 six pack motors should have aluminum intakes too.

This is "most likely" a 440 of some random year with a six pack carb/intake put on it.....still very, very cool.

I’m like you.... if it was just a 383 car, the fender tag is not all that important. But if the car appears to be solid, has a real 440-6, AND a Dana 60, then I would be very interested if it was me! Does the engine turn over?

OK, well I agree that dash VIN = radiator core support VIN is a really good sign & would be enough for me too (though I'd check the trunk lip). I like the car for sure + have a Dana in it sure the heck doesn't hurt. Your key negotiating tools are that it will take a TON of time/money to get the car looking good & running good and it's a 383 car. Obviously it has a 70 date code & that is a '70 six pack air cleaner...if the harmonic balancer has an offset weight "horseshoe" in the middle, then it might be a real six pack motor??? The 70/71 six packs had the big rods. Regardless, I like the car.

Checked the balancer and it is a Six Pack, my son took a picture of it with the numbers. I sent the owner a text asking how much they wanted for the car as of yet no response. I wait a few days then call.

Well, it's looking good, but not yet confirmed 100% since it "could" be a '70 high performance 4-barrel engine with a six pack setup on it. The fact the car has a Dana too is good since it would have been standard equipment on a '70 440 4-speed car (six pack or 4-barrel). I think the drivetrain is worth more than the car.

I'm thinking the same thing. Drive train got 5k wrote all over it? I'm I wrong?

Information from a family friend says the entire drive train was from a totaled out Yellow car. Also said the donor car my still be on the edge of the field were they removed the drive train. I will research that later. Interested in its condition, with parts available and better tools and technology it might be worth taking a look.

This is a nice find. The fact that it looks like a real 440-6 with a Dana rear makes for an awesome starting point! Cars like this in my neck of the woods have all but disappeared. They have either been restored or gone to the crusher
