I have a 69 Road Runner with a 383 motor. It always over heats about 10 min. after the motor running. Does a blown head gasket act that way? I took the rad cap off and also run the motor, out came the water again. The water was not hot to the touch. I can not find the problem.Would love to drive my car. Also it has a new thermostat. Thank you Jeff
I have no leaks that I see

X 2 on the stat..
Also, with the cap off and engine running, can you see coolant flowing in the radiator? Could be a weak or worn water pump or a stuck t-stat.
Are the hearter hoses warm? any heat to the interior?

Hello No heat on the hoses. Did not see any water moving in rad, did not have time to look. Also I did check the t-stat if opening ok. I put in hot water and you could see it open . You guys think it could be th water pump ? Would be ok to take the t-stat out and run the motor and see what happens ?

Overheating

X3...HEATER HOSES NOT HOT, WATER NOT HOT... IS SEE NOTHING ELSE LEFT BESIDES YOUR WATER PUMP...I HAD SIMILAR ISSUES WITH MY 69 RR AND IT WAS THE PUMP.

if you see bubbles in the radiator...thats a blown head gasket. if the t-stat is opening....the prob is a clogged radiator. get a new one! my 70 RR did the exact same thing....a new 26" champion rad fixxed the problem!

if it is as bad as you say i would pull both rad hoses and take a garden hose and put it in the top spot to check flow through the rad.look inside the hose connection and check for buildup as well.

Thank you all for the info. I will start with the garden hose,if that is ok I will go to the water pump.I will get a new rad a my last point. ( most money ). Now I have more places to look at and try.

Thanks again Jeff

I have had good luck with copper radiator, green coolant, clutch fan, 180 Napa SuperStat and factory shroud.

Yes, you can run it without the t-stat installed. Doing so may help to diagnose your problem. Without the t-stat, you should see water moving in the rad as the water pump should be circulating it. ( A stuck t-stat will prevent block the flow) If you still see no flow without the stat, look @ the pump and/or rad. If you see flow with no stat, you probably have a bad stat.

Thanks for all the input. It turned out to be the water pump !! But all the info was super .. again thanks to you all.
