1969 Sport Satellite Dream Realized

Welcome - great car. I had a '69 Sport Satellite over 30 years ago. Mine was a silver 318 car. It was a nice complement to my '70 GTX at the time.

Welcome to the site from NC, awesome looking car. Great site with a lot of Mopar knowledge on it.

NICE! Ya just can't beat the South West for rock solid sheet metal, interiors are roached but so what.

beautiful car! more pics please! and welcome.

Like that color on your car. I had to keep scrolling to the top so I could look at it again.........and again.....and again.

Thanks for your story and postin, glad to see you have finally got your sport back!

Big Block Air car with an unmolested thumbwheel! Man that is nice.

I really couldn't be happier. I came close to pulling the trigger on a few other Satellites but really wanted to come as close to a "barn find" as I could. The seller lost his father back in 2002. His father got the car for his mom. She wanted a blue Satellite. When they got to the lot there was a blue Satellite with a Mod Top and Interior. He said his father said "No way are we buying that crazy car". His father sat down and ordered exactly what he wanted, what you see here. (father ordered it back in 1968). He was really torn up to have to sell it but he was loosing his storage site and needed to part ways.

That car is absolutely beautiful! Nothin like a car from the SW and let alone that well taken care of. You got a good one there.

Great color and the vinyl top sets it off nicely! Hard to find them in that condition, cool ride :)

Thanks again for the great welcome and positive comments. I thought I'd provide an update. I should preface this with the following: my grandfather, father and oldest brother were/are blessed with the mechanical genes in the family. My grandfather and father have long passed but my oldest brother is helping me stay on the straight and narrow with my treasure. I can spot the gems, and know a fair amount of model information but when it comes to wrenching my skills are limited. So....here we go:

I sent the car to the restoration shop in West Virginia to get it re-commissioned for the spring of this year (Suspension, Brakes, Hoses, etc.). The motor needed to be assessed as well (83K original miles). The compression and Leak-Down tests showed a weak cylinder so a rebuild was in order.
The original owner added a Carter AVS, Intake Manifold and Exhaust Manifolds from another big block car and dual exhaust back in the early 80s. So, since it wasn’t 100% as it rolled off the line I made the decision to tweak things ever so slightly.

Engine Rebuild Info:
Cam is .454/.454 lift with .221/.230 duration so it will sound meaner than it really is. Bored .30 over, new valves, valve springs, ARP rod bolts. Engine has the good 906 casting heads. Compression will be 9.5. Crank is steel, not cast and was polished. Reciprocating assembly was balanced. Pertonix Flame Thrower II Epoxy Filled Coil. Pertonix Distributor Conversion, Ignitor II®, 12 V, Kit. EdelbrockThunder AVS, 650 cfm, with Electric Choke

Suspension and Wheels:
P-S-T Polygraphite Performance Super Front End Kit and Polygraphite Motor Mounts. Bilstein shocks on all four corners and new leaf springs in the rear. New rear axle seals (Rear Diff gasket replaced as well).
American Racing Salt Flat Rims (Front - 15" x 7" 3.75 backspacing, Rear -15" x 8" 4.5 backspacing). BF Goodrich Radial T/A s (Fronts 225/70/15, Rears 275/60/15)

Posting additional pictures shortly.

man, what an awesome ride!

She's still in progress. I had the calipers and master cylinder rebuilt. The engine is being painted this week and the exhaust manifolds are done. I hope to have the motor back in by the end of next week.
