1969 SuperBee new member HELLO

Welcome to FBBO from Ontario. There is a lot of knowledge here to help you with any questions. I bought a SuperBee new in 1969. Sunfire Yellow coupe with black Bumblebee stripe and bench seat interior. 383 RamAir, automatic with factory 3.91 on Suregrip. Also had Hemi suspension package with 26" rad and shroud, power disc brakes. This is my car in the picture taken at Grand Bend,Ontario, and printed in London Free Press newspaper in summer of 1969. I later had a SixPack fibreglass hood on it.

Question Dave, Was it fairly common back in those days to make the switch to a Fiberglass lift off 6 pack hood? Reason I'm asking is when I got mine it had a 6 pack hood on it but the VIN showed it was a 383 car. Just curious.

At the time, it was easy to do because you could get the pins and brackets from your local Dodge store. The way I got my hood was a little different. An acquaintance showed up at my apartment one night with it, saying it came off a friend's new 'Bee that had been totalled in a rear end wreck. They decided to "salvage" the hood and sell it. This was late summer of 1969. I paid $30.00 for it. In retrospect, it likely came off a car on a parked rail transporter. Since my car came with the steel RamAir hood, it had the large orange oval air cleaner that could clearly be seen through the scoop opening. The Chevvie and Ford boys never questioned that it was a 440 and left me alone. I don't think too many guys would have done the change back in the day, because the fibreglass hood would have been relatively expensive through regular channels. It was nice "eye candy", though.

Welcome to the site! Great looking bee! I miss my 69 A12 Superbee everyday!
