1969 SuperBee Throttle Linkage Bracket Question

First post here. Recently took the car over and received in this condition. It is a long story but happy to go into it if there are questions

Throttle Linkage was disconnected to remove the intake manifold it looks like, so all components are still connected to the linkage bracket but not attached to engine/intake. The bracket doesnt seem to want to loine up with the intake bolt location and i dont want to wrestle it too much to get it into position. In the attached photos I took a couple angles - I circled in faint yellow the spot I'm talking about. Am i missing a spacer that should be in between bracket and intake bolt?

Still learning all I can about Mopar, but hitting a wall with this one for some reason. Thanks in advance.

Looks like a Weiand intake so the factory bracket may need a spacer to attach that rear bolt. I'll let others chime in.
 
The bracket won't fit over the intake. Right now it's too high and your verticle rod is too short to function he way it is. So a spacer won't help
 
unhook the throttle cable from the bracket. you need a spacer or washers or even a nut that slides over the bolt between the intake and the bottom side of the bracket to take up that space. might need a 1/4 inch longer bolt. you will need to adjust the cable after and your kick down rod. the kick down rod should be on the other side of the carb rod

I'd flip the intake around so the front is facing forward. And go from there :thumbsup:
 
Visually, that intake looks a little thinner than an OEM intake. It's hard to say without a measurement. I just measured a 383-4 HP intake, and its between 5/8 and 3/4 thick at the rear-most driver-side bolt hole.

So as others have said, you may need to build that one bolt back up with a spacer or some washers.

Presuming that bracket was in place, and adjusted for the OEM manifold, you may not get the exact same function with the new manifold, and may need to disconnect (and later readjust) the three points of connection, before torqueing the intake bolt(s) in place securing the bracket.

I recommend you disconnect from the bracket, the throttle cable, throttle pressure linkage, and carburetor rod, along with any springs. Tighten the bracket in place, then put the items back, following the adjustment procedure in the transmission section of the FSM.

Having a correctly adjusted throttle rod, pressure and cable is pretty nice, and not to be taken for granted or underrated.

Funny I didn't think of that...went and flipped it but the same gap exists between bracket and intake. Intake is Weiand - bracket has fit on same intake before. Car was handed over to mechanic who started but didn't leave us in the best spot, took carb/intake off to clean but didn't reconnect.

Considering removing cables, attaching bracket and going form there to see if they connect. Otherwise will need to try spacer.
 
Thank you all for the replies. I want to respond to them all, but new here so not sure if thats the protocol. Sounds like I need to try a couple things tomorrow - gonna report back here if anyone is still around the thread.

This is has been and will be a project for me, and I should've joined here sooner! Seems like the best advice is right here.

Flip it around and post a picture. Also that bracket it looks like the front tab is bent down and hitting the intake runner.
 
The tab on the side should fit flush with the pad on the intake. The tab up front is hitting and should be bent out.

This is flipped. In the photo the bracket is just resting against the intake. If I try and bring the bracket down to the intake thread location, I can get it about half an inch from laying flat on the intake. If the tabs block it from being bolted correctly then they should be bent.

Will try and bolt bracket to intake and see if cables lay correctly?

that bracket will work but it is not the right bracket might be for a 2-barrel carb.

If you end up spacing the bracket you will have to lengthen the rod that drops down to the tranny.
