I picked up this 1970 4 door satellite a few days ago for $1000 as my first project car. It’s gonna need a lot of work to say the least. The good is almost everything is with it minus a few trim pieces and the radiator and a window. The bad is it’s somewhat rusty. From what I can tell it needs a new trunk pan and quarter panels due to rust. The frame and floor pans are in good shape though. I’m debating on if it’s worth it to get it road worthy again or if I should sell it and get something else that would be worth more restored. Thanks in advance for any advice

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. If you like it and can do the repairs yourself - go for it. Crew cabs are affordable but still cost money to repair. Set some limits and goals and study the project before you pull the trigger. If it runs great and drives good , keep it decent and drive it, but it’s all up to you.

Thanks for the advice. Main reason I picked it up was the affordability and I felt like it was a decent deal. I have all the tools I need to do major work on the car. I just worry that when it’s all said and done I would have been better off with spending more on a two door.

The first few years of the Adam 12 TV series featured 4 door Plymouth B-bodies. 1968 through I believe 1971 models. Belvederes not the upscale Satellite like you have. It's interesting to see them in action when they were new and they switched to AMC Matadors after that.

I think I'd concentrate on getting it running and driving well without doing much bodywork. If you like the results and decide to keep it, the body can come later.

Unless it is a car that you plan on keeping forever, resale should be calculated into "affordability". You might save a little up front in the purchase, but he cost to fix up a 70 roadrunner vs. a 70 4-dr Satty is about equal, .... and when it comes time to sell, the value of the 4-door will be significantly less than the RR.

Get it going and drive it. Nothing wrong with more doors plus you can do many, it not most, of the upgrades the 2's get. My wagon is going to get some of the same upgrades that I've done on my 65 500. Just not as extensive.

Why not just fix it up on a very, very low budget and enjoy the car ? Not to worry or concern about resale, do just enough to make it worth your while. And get some good experience doing so. And have fun.
