1970 Charger steering linkage question(s)

Not sure if this helps but if someone could compare this view of their 68 bbody it would help me - maybe this bracket is bent up somehow.

When you get it figured out and back together, the idler arm bolt should go down from the top, opposite from your pic.

By gosh, you are correct. Learn something new everyday around here, Had to go look in my books before calling you a liar, lol. I always drop the bolt down from the top, just makes sense to me. The only car, Dodge or Plymouth that shows it installed my way is a Fury, in 69 anyway.

I was equally astonished for what it's worth - doesn't make sense to me, but maybe there is some logic beyond me... cheers!
