1970 Coronet R/T Project (Dasfusca's Car)

Looking good. Does anyone still make a cradle like you have? I'm assuming no due to liability and to many lawyers.

Looking good! Putting the vinyl top on and same color? I think that green really looks sharp..One of those cradles sure would be neat to have around! This is the first ive ever seen one of those.. handy i imagine, even if needing a board under it in gravel/stones.. Thanks for the link.

I have just started back on more welding this weekend. Since they don't make full quarters for the 70 at AMD, I have been doing a little stitching at the trunk drip rails before I cut the rest of the panel behind the back window out and the face of the quarter. I don’t want to misshape anything.

I have been busy collecting parts for the engine and I have put together almost all the interior parts. I could not resist the great deal on the am/fm radio. I have the original AM in a safe place.

and I dropped off the heads and they are now at the machine shop. We are suppose to pull the block out next week to get that machined too.

I need to get moving on my R/T. I have been distracted by two non b body cars. A 1952 chieftain coupe(see Picture) that I just got and my late grandfather's 1978 d150 pickup (see picture) that I have been working on for a while.

Good job so far & welcome. I was checking out a sand blaster like you have pictured, does it do a pretty good job? By the way I have a 70 Bee & I know how hard it can bee to find body parts like your tail panel. Good find.

Love that '52 man! I'd drive it just like it sits.

Thanks. That's my plan for it. It has no rust except for the "patina". Has Straight eight with an auto trans. Was in storage for yearsand years. Motor turns but someone stole some parts off it so i have been shopping.

I had to gut the inside because cats were living in it. 7 trash bags. I wore a hazmat suit to rip out all the cloth. At least nine mice nests and a dead rat under the back seat. It had a broken window and you could smell the animal stench from it a few feet away. Bleach/water, Lysol and fabreez fixed all that.

There are two in the picture. The black Plastic one is for low pressure. Works okay. Won’t warp sheet metal as much.

Then there is the White pressure tank. I think it was Harbor Freight. I changed it to a dead man's trigger from Eastwood and it works really well. Makes a mess and you need to wear protection but it does work nicely on the rust. You have to get the mix adjustments down. Once you do you are good to go. Remember to always wear a ventilator with the hood when you blast.

I also have a soda blaster too. But I use the sand more for the rust and soda to clean off old paint without the fear of warping.

We finally pulled the original block from the 1970 R/T. It was pretty simple since most of the engine was dismantled by the previous owner way back in the early eighties. I have already taken it to my engine builder’s. I am hoping there are no issues with the block. The heads are being replaced with two redone 906 ones with new valves, springs keepers and all that with hardened exhaust seats. These new heads are the same date as the original heads. I think that’s kind of cool. I know not everyone is a date chaser but this just worked out for me. The original heads are beyond repair from sitting in the trunk when it was filled with water.

I got my rebuilt 906 heads today. I think they look great. And they are the right date code. I have stock rockers off of a low millage hp 440 and I have two sets of rods one from the hp 440 and a brand new set. Which rods should I use? The dark ones with the paint are are the original hp 440 mopar ones as far as I know. My block is still being dismantled and it still looks good.

model looks good.that's what i did is build models of cars that i own and painted them to original(or close to) that i could for the real car.

I am still working on the filler panel. I have to weld quite a bit in order to have a nice base fo the new AMD piece. I drilled out all the spot welds and I have to fabricate the edge of the rear tray. I also purchased the curved piece that goes between the window and tray. so far the AMD stuff fits great.
