1970 Dark Burnt Orange Metallic?

It's tough because my high school friend's Super Bee i think was this color, (white top) which made me love Mopars. So do I paint the '70 Coronet 500 this color or do I go resale High Impact colors? Anything but purple I'm a crimson and blue KU Jayhawk as I've said K State was purple.

If you're asking about paint code FK5, it is more brown.

I would go with the 2005 Dodge Go Mango used on the Daytona Chargers and trucks! It is more orange,less brown than FK5

There were color variances.. I've seen some that were very brown and some that were more orange.... I owned a 70 R/T SE Challenger that was very orange.... The 71 color GK6 was very brown....

That’s a sharp looking 68. I love black vinyl tops with the right color and that looks awesome.

My '70 GTX seemed more orangish back in the early '80s. Only the interior and the engine compartment were the original FK5. The rest of the car had been repainted black.

My 70 Challenger convertible is FK5. It had been restored sometime prior to my buying it in '97, by the previous owner. He told me when he painted it, he wanted to do a base coat clear coat paint job, but no one offered that at the time in FK5. So he found a early 80s Mopar color that was really close and available in BC/CC. I find the color really varies in different lights. The firewall is still original paint and from that I can tell the color he used was a little more orange and a tad less brown then factory FK5.

Imo, if youre w
orking with a four door satellite with a slant, paint it anything you want.
Working on a 440-6 car? Paint it the original color, even if you hate it!
Relatively speaking, the more valuable the Mopar, the more it needs the oem color.

My guess? Same color, or supposed to be. Different paint manufacturer, different primer color, single stage verses clear coat, could he any number of variables.
I saw three 57 chevies parked next to each other at a 55-57 chevy show. They were all supposed to be Sierra gold (actually a copper color). They were all different. Parked next to each other the differences were obvious. I sure didn't know which was "right". (If any).

Both my convertible and the '70 in the background are FK5 cars. As I mentioned in my post, when the previous owner restored the convertible, no one had FK5 in BC/CC and he painted it a factory Mopar color from the early 80s that was available in BC/CC that was pretty close. It's a bit more orange and a bit less brown than original FK5. The car in the background is painted a closer match for FK5.

I really like FK5 if that is the color you are asking about. I painted a Duster in that color with Dupont several years ago. I would say it is more brown than orange. My buddy painted a Road Runner in the same paint code with PPG Deltron. The PPG was a far more vibrant orangish tone than my Duster was. I liked them both, but if I did it over, would use the PPG.

I'd been searching for a Challenger convertible in the mid 90s and after a couple years was getting frustrated. I ran wanted ads in a few magazines and got 4 or 5 responses. The only car fairly close to me geographically and pricewise to my budget was the one I ended up buying. I wasn't enthused about the color, and the price was a bit over my budget. But after a few years of looking I was getting desperate so decided to buy it anyway. Since then, FK5 has grown on me and I really like burnt orange and brown cars now. Best money I ever spent!

It's my 1970 Coronet 500. I love Super Bees but since the 500 and the R/T have the same tail lights I'm going to put the R/T scoops on it. I've spoken of it before but it's a cream color. It has a saddle tan interior, buckets with buddy seat. 727 on the column. 383 2 bbl. I already have a 4bbl intake and carb. I think it was a sporty family car. It had hubcaps and a factory bumper strip down the sides. Good thing, it spent its whole life in New Mexico. Sun-baked but not rusty.

I'm not planning on a quick flip but resale values are important to me.

The doors were pretty dented so I bought a pair of RR doors and they're sanded down to bare metal.
