Friend is restoring a 1970 roadrunner. From his investigations he thinks it is a full numbers matching car but he has some questions.

The vin on the motor, 383, is a match, He is investigating the trans and the rear, how can he determine if those are matching as well?
He has looked for tags or stampings but cannot find any that show the cars VIN
he would also like to know who the previous 3 owners are or at least get some more detailed information on the cars life.

This appears to be a VERY well optioned car and rare if everything aligns.

VIN: RM23N0A229720
383, power steering, power disc brakes, power windows AND A/C. All appearing factory.

Any advice?

THANKS!!

Vin will be on the passenger side of the trans on a similar machined surface as on the engine block. The rear axle has no vin stamped on it but should be an 8 & 3/4" and should have a 489 carrier.
Is ther a build sheet or fender tag with the car?

unfortunately no, the build sheet appears to be long gone as the car had been sitting for about 10 years in a state of "mid restoration". no fender tag either. :(

I got a few shots but the car is crammed into the shop so the only shot that came out well is the engine shot.

Another question, Are there any templates on line with the proper dimensions for the rear package tray on this car? Not the steel but the hardboard/vinyl insert? His is long gone so using it as a template is out of the question unfortunately and I wanted to give making it ourselves a go before spending any money.

Never mind on the package tray. WE FOUND IT!!, it was under the carpet in the trunk. It was rough but in good enough shape to re-cover. 1 more thing off the to-do list :)
