Hello all I am new to the site. I have a 1970 Roadrunner my question is that where the leaf springs attach to the body towards the front of the spring there is 4 what I believe are rivets. The two on the bottom have nuts on the back and the two on the top do not and seem to be sheared off on the back where the nuts would go. Both sides are the same. Does anyone know if that's the way it's suppose to be?

It's hard to tell without pics, but I think what you are talking about is where the front of the leafs bolt on. If I remember correctly the 4 bolt holes are almost square but not quite so that you cannot put the bracket on but one way. I hope this helps.

Sure sounds like the spring mounting bracket. The front spring eye bolt goes side to side through the bracket, the bracket bolts to the body with four studs in the bracket and four nuts on the front side of the body member. Sounds like the two top studs are broke off on both sides of the car.

Those studs that 66Satellite mentioned are pressed in. You can drive them out with a punch and a hammer. Might be pretty tough to do while installed in the car. If you take them out, cleaning up the area a bit, adding some heat, they should pop out without too much hassle. Just replace with some grade 8 bolts or go back to the stud route if that suite's your fancy. Good luck.

Yearone has reproduction brackets available. Yours sound like they are gone, due to rust, mods or whatever.

Thanks for the replies seems as if the two top bolts on both sides sheared off seems odd to me but I will remove them and replace them with some grade 8 bolts. Thanks again for the replies

Those 4 studs are definitely spaced different. I just got done doing mine and had to pop a couple out and replace with grade 8 . No big deal. They will only go in one way. Good luck!
