Anyone know if the 1971 Charger could be ordered with a rear sway bar? I don't see one listed in the Chrysler Parts book in 1971; but there is one listed for 1972. For a 9 3/4.

Thanks!

My 72 SE 8 3/4 has one.

I've never heard of it being available in 71, but it was standard on the Rallye starting in 72.

72 and up.

Thanks everyone. My 72 SE 400 4 speed also had one back in the Day. I kind of assumed the 71 RT did, too. I imagine the 72 would probably fit.

Must be 72 up, my 71 SE has a front but not a rear. My 73 Rallye has both

72's will bolt right on. Hellwig makes a pretty nice one that's a reasonable price. That's what I have on my 71. My 74 Rallye has the factory one.

Sounds good--thanks for the tip.

I bought one from Firm Feel for my 71 Super Bee.

Not installed yet, appears to be nicely designed.

It mounts above the rear differential, keeping it for the most part unseen from the rear of the car.

It's interesting that the firm feel looks like an ebody, in terms of mounting.
I put a factory one on my 4drs and wagon.
Really helps with understeer.
Wagon had been weight balanced, and aligned by a performance shop. It looked odd with porsches and race cars around.
Tech came back smiling. 50/50 balance, big torsion bars, springs, and a 440.

Isn't there a sway bar that is located under the rear end housing?

That upper located sway bar may be fighting for space with the tail pipes...no?

72 and up B-body are that way. This is my 74.

71Beeper,
I appreciate the feedback.

It never came to mind the space needed for exhaust, etc. when I purchased this unit.

Being my first Mopar restoration and buying the car basically dismantled, I took it this is correct for my 71 Super Bee, went by the advertisement wording of Firm Feel "Frame Hung like the factory rear bars" "71-79 Rear 7/8" Dia." not questioning nor knowing any better otherwise at the time of purchase.

I hope I have room to mount my stock exhaust and fuel vapor system, I will know soon enough, getting ready to go back together in the very near future.

I will post pictures once I have the exhaust hung or do have evidence contrary to the advertisement.

Firm Feel is a reputable and long established company in the world of Mopar I have come to learn, I can only hope (for the time being) it will fit my 71 Bee as advertised.

Manzolds, your Super Bee underside is almost the same as the underside of my Roadrunner.
Here's a photo of when the exhaust was being installed on mine (about a month ago).
Tailpipe July 18th (36).jpg

Look closely to the right of the muffler - the previous owner(s) welded a plate to the frame rail, which I assume would be for a rear sway bar.

This will give some idea on how much real estate is there when everything is in place.
BTW that is a 2 1/2" tail pipe.

Also, I do have the same 72 & up rear sway bar that T2R9 is showing in his reply - I still need to clean it up and paint it and buy new bushings for it.

Hello 71 Beeper,
Thanks for the picture.

Judging by the picture, it looks like there will be sufficient space for the exhaust to clear.

Will know soon enough if this is going to work.

Hopefully Firm Feel accounted for the needed space for the exhaust, fuel vapor lines and brake lines., I already have drilled the crossholes for the brackets through the frame rail.
