Hi all ! (my first post)

I have a 1972 RR clone and I need to apply the Roadrunner emblems to the rear quarter below the rear side windows, the emblems are the adhesive type and I purchased a NOS set but the adhesive has dried out and there is NO way they will stick, I shelled out good money for this NOS set that are now completely useless, do they make new adhesive for these ? do they make new emblems that come with good strong adhesive ?? I need help please. what the hell do I do ?

thanks

Chuck

Should be able to get some double sided tape that's got a foam type material in between at any auto parts store. Or, if you want to be bold and make sure they don't come off you can use 3m Plastic and emblem adhesive. They wont come off once you apply, and it does soften the paint up until it cures so make sure you get them straight and are able to keep them in place until it sets up after you apply them. I used it for my rr emblem on my trunk.

I'd go with the double sided tape too. Razor blade your old adhesive off (which was probably also double sided tape), clean well and apply new tape. If any tape is visible, you can trim it before you apply it to the car.

Be careful if using solvent to clean the glue, you don't want it to dribble and remove the black paint on the visible side.

Oh, and hi Chuck, that's a nice car you ended up with. Welcome:wav:

Head on over to the 'welcome' forum and let people know you're here. :)

I got the 3m double sided tape. The role that I got has a red backing on one side. I first stuck the un-backed side to the emblem, leaving the backing in place. I took a scalpel and carefully cut around the letters. Then just put it where it goes, after removing backing(no moving around).

I'd put them on the Bar for display and buy repros that go on easily or/and can be removed without paint damage. You never know.

They are still a available from Ma Mopar. Here is my set. Ordered them from the local Dodge dealership.

Thanks for that info, I went to my Dodge dealership and ordered a nice fresh set and they went on nice ! they look perfect !

When I ordered them everyone at the dealership wanted to know why I was ordering them and for what car, I told them and brought the car in for them to see and it was more than well received, I guess the product they now sell is not as cool as the old stuff.

I'm not all that worried about originality. Having said that, I had a friend print me up some decals out of 3M chrome material. Seeing that the bird is a decal, to me it's a cleaner look if the wording is also a decal. They are the same size and font as the emblems and most people wouldn't even realize that's not how it was done originally. Costs about 1/4 the price of the emblems as well.

This one I put them too low, but you get the idea.

Just another option, unless you are going for originality.

The girl who made them for me just left to go to Sturgis for the motorcycle rally a couple days ago.

PM me here with your email address and I will send it to her and tell her to contact you when she gets back. I think you'll be pretty happy with them.

Hey can you still get these decals? I would love a set in white if possible !

Thanks

Chuck

I'd put the ones you have on like was stated earlier with the 3m two sided tape! if you ever need to take them off all you do is use some fishing line like fire line or similar braided line. you just put the line under the emblem and with a sawing motion use the line to cut the tape off. whatever is left on the car will rub off with goo gone or mineral spirits and you wont hurt the paint!
