I have been decoding the broadcast sheet for my '73 Runner. It shows a sales code of S51 on Line #12 of the sheet.

Also wondering about code S78 on Line #12. I understand this to be power steering, but the car did not come with power steering, so a bit confused what it means as well (P/S delete?).

Anyone know what these codes stand for? They are the only pieces I haven't been able to figure out.

Thanks...

S51 = Front Sway Bar
RE S78= S77 would be power steering. Can you post a scan or picture of that section of the sheet?

Did your car come with a packag that would include power steering?

The car is pretty much a grocery getter Runner. Its a standard RM21 vehicle. No power accessories other than power front disk brakes. It does have heavy duty suspension so includes codes S02, S13, S32 and S41 for the heavy duty suspension pieces, so S51 being front sway bar makes sense.

The sheet shows a single groove pulley on the 46A alternator (Line #3), fan and crankshaft pulley (Line #6) are single groove as well. No evidence of additional packages in the sales codes. There is no evidence of pump mounting brackets and the steering box is good old armpower variety. The car came with 28" rad max cooling option with coolant recovery. Otherwise, standard 340 4bbl offering.

Will try to get a legible scan to post.

Interesting that you have max cooling option, but don't have a/c? I am guessing as you said all your pulley's are single groove. By the way, those 28" radiators are impossible to find in good condition, so do the maintenance to keep that one in good shape!

Maybe I'm missing something, but the double-pully alternator is for cars with air conditioning isn't it? Power steering doesn't require double pullies does it?

Looking at the Chrysler shop manual, it appears that the air conditioner and alternator are on the same belt, and the power steering is on a separate belt. It appears that the crank pulley needs to be a double to handle the belts, but I could be wrong on this - the picture is pretty hard to see.
