how can i tell what trans and rear end i have? it is a stock 318 auto car? what shuld i look for in the vin? Thanks for the help

Typically, 318 got the 904 trans and the 8-1/4 rear.
The fender tag will tell you the trans code.
The brodacst sheet will tell you the rear axle size and the final gear ratio-without opening 'er up.
Hope this helps.

Here is a couple diagrams you can look at to try to do a visual on what you may have..
Good luck..

You might get lucky and still have the differential tag. Mine was still bolted on the diff and it shows the ratio.

Ma mopar is known to do odd things and change them up.
Mid year 1973 all B body wagons got the 9-1/4 rear as the 8-3/4 was slowly being phased out.
My wagon has the 9-1/4 rear behind the 318/3 speed manual trans.
