1973 'Cuda

Buy it! You'll regret not doing so in ten years when the prices of these cars double in the next 10 years! And if you're not worried about 100% originality, throw in an ididit direct fit steering column and a nice ratchet shifter on the floor. That's what I'm gonna do to eliminate the column shifter in my 73 Charger. If I had any real money, I'd pay 15k for that 'cuda.

There would be no questions if it was a Coronet and it would be in my warehouse this weekend. I have to take another look and the body and the vinyl top. It is a driver, but I can see it being completely restored and being a beautiful car but that will cost at least $10,000.00. I will see him in two weeks when he gets back from vacation to see if he really wants to sell it.

Take a magnet.

Odd column shift. I've seen bench seats in 340 cars too.

That said, I've never seen a Cuda 318 or 318 Rallye Challenger with a column shift.

Buy it. If for nothing else to make a profit off of its resale. I would love to find that car. Good find.

I am in the process of buying it either to resell it as is or ascertain the cost of restoring it. It is a cool little car and I hate to see it get neglected by the current owner.

Good for you.

Were there any signs of previous body work?

Yes, the passenger side quarter has a patch and one of the fenders is fiberglass. The wheel wells look good but the sail panel and quarters have paint bubbles. The vinyl top also looks like it needs taken off to check for rust. It looks like a good driver, but not up to my standards. I am waiting for the restoration company to give me a ballpark figure on sand blasting (or whatever media), replacing rusted panels that may include quarters, fenders and sail panel. Hopefully all is well under the paint and the metal including the doors are fine.

Ouch. That sounds expensive.

It looked GREAT in the pics.

I'd be tempted to leave it alone and see if someone would swap even for something more to your tastes.

A desirable 340 'Cuda E body should command some leverage against almost all but the most exotic B body cars even if not quite as much as a 70 or 71.

The seller needs a few more days to make a decision to sell or to keep it. I offered him free parking in my warehouse that is less than 100 yards from his house. So at least it will be out of the elements if he decides not to sell it.
