1973 Road Runner

Bought a different gauge cluster off of ebay. It's in better shape than mine and has the clock. Someday I would like to put a tach in it.

New one on top and the old one out of the car on the bottom.

New bezel on top

Good score. Silver leafing paint pen will fix up the bezel edging real nice! And a fluorescent orange pen for the gauge needles works great also.

Also, I finally got the car up on 4 wheels last night and moved it out of the back corner of the shop. Now it'll be easier to work on with the lift.

They need to know year of car, motor size I believe, and if you are going with the original set up with the isolators. I'm keeping the original set up with the rubber isolators. The springs were $250 for the pair with new front bushings pressed in. They also sell the rear shackles, new bolts, and u bolts.

Do your springs have the round or oval front spring bushings?

Round front bushings

Is there any special place to get the silver leaf paint pen?

I got mine at Hobby Lobby. Some others on the forum here have used different silvers, but I thought this one was almost identical to the original color.

Just a small amount of progress lately. Finished getting the rest of the bolts in the fenders and put my old beat up front valance back on until I can find a better one. Too bad these license plates are a year off. I believe in MN they have to be the same year as the model year of the car. Shame because I have 3 really nice sets of 1974 MN plates.

Also, wondering if the steering column on the right will work in the car or what it is out of. The one on the left is the one that was in the car but does not have a key. The other steering column has an ignition key.

The one on the right is not for a Roadrunner/Satellite. The one on the right is ok for column shift, but it doesn't have the gear indicator section, which would mean its from a car that has the gear selector on the dash instead of the column, fury, imperial, valiant, etc. The one on the left looks right, just take the key assembly out and get it rekeyed or install a new one.

Thank you! I'm just going to put the column shift in to get it driving. I'll change it out when I find a different column. Can I take the ignition out of the column on the right and put it in the column for my car?

Hey Dieselholic, if the ignition mechanisms are the same size(diameter), I don't see why you couldn't just swap them.

Here's the tail housing on the A833 that was in the car when I bought it.

If I use this transmission, is this the mount I need for the shifter?

hurst_598b_183_detail.jpg

It almost seems like it wouldn't move the shifter far enough back if I put the full AMD 4 speed hump in it. I guess I could always cut the hump and move it forward some.

I did pretty mutch the same , here are some pics click here ------> scrole down http://www.forbbodiesonly.com/moparforum/showthread.php?27567-Need-1971-4-speed-linkage-help

http://www.brewersperformance.com/4speed.asp these guys are great to work with and have high quality parts for four speeds and swaps

That helps a lot! Thank you! So It looks like you didn't have to shorten your 4 speed hump at all. I've looked at brewers and I'm definitely getting my rebuild kit from them when the time comes.

I have been following your thread pretty closely. Love the progress, thanks for posting. I am paying attention as I work on my 73 Roadrunner.

If you are in need of parts. I just purchased a second Roadrunner to take parts for my car. Whatever I don't use you are welcome to. Send me a message if you are interested.

Great project and great work, This is a very cool color on these cars!!!

Thank you! For now I just want her back on the road. Someday I'll repaint it the stock color. I love the JF8 Forest Green Metallic

Cool these '73-'74 cars work make sleeper cars (especially 4 speeds). I have a local friend who built a pretty wild satellite base car. It looked like a base 318 auto, sherwood green with a bench seat and steel wheels, but has a 400 and a four speed. I don't get over to his place that often, but the car look pretty nice.
