Do you own one? Had one? Fan of them? Man do I get a lot of hate from 1966-1974 Charger fans.
If you're interested in a Facebook group just for 1975-78 Charger owners/fans, let me know. Haters not allowed.

Nothing wrong with them. I would not have a problem owning a big block 75-77 one. Heck Us 71-74 guys get a lot of snubs too. Hate is a pretty strong word.

What people don't realize is that these cars were timed to the era. When the 66 Chargers were brought out they were a standout. 1975 wasn't 1969 and the cars had to be different. I don't compare say 1966 Chargers to 1970 Chargers. However if you compare a 1973 Charger to a 1973 Chevelle I think the comparisons are more valid. The 1975 Chargers were fine and very well in tune with the competition, as a matter of fact in my eyes a ton better looking than the same year GM and Ferd cars.

Exactly. ^^ As the "performance" era was closing up, so to speak, the focus became "personal luxury" in the intermediate segment. As the Charger was more luxury-oriented vs. the other Mopar b-bodies, it was a natural for the class. It's drawback, however, was the more accepted luxury model for the class, understandably, a Chrysler... Cordoba. (Edit: and competed against Monte Carlo, Regal, Cutlass Supreme, Thunderbird, Cougar, etc. none of which were "performance" cars)

You think you get a snub, try running a 4 door!
Mine is an ex-detective police model(78 Monaco) so the haters usually sort of grumble, draw circles in the dirt with the tip of their shoes and begrudgingly say "well, cop car... I guess...." but they don't have much good to say really. Haters are haters after all.

The 75-78, and a few models of 79 cars are of course not as respected as the "golden days" cars. On paper, they weigh a couple hundred lbs more(doesn't matter much with modern engine tech) but have better brakes and the rest of the improvements that came with that decade of design upgrades. Hating on the 70's cars is also rapidly turning into an old man thing, the younger crowd sees a unique car with big chrome and a mean V8 and they are interested. My father in law's Magnum gets a lot of looks when he gets it out.

They are priced right, and can be a ton of fun. On the other hand, if you need parts to fix one up, yikes. Good luck finding stuff.

I'd love to have this car back from the dead.... '76 Fury Sport. First car I took the Wife to the drive-in in !

I bought a new Charger SE in 1976. It had the 360 engine. It was a great car! I had almost zero trouble with it that I can remember. I gave it to my kid in 1983. He used it up pretty quickly but he does that with everything he gets.
