Hello, New to this particular board but have been around on various other MOPAR boards for yrs. Until it was defunct I was a regular contributor on MOPAR chat. I have a 1979 d150 Warlock in process of a frame off restore and recently bought a 1978 Cordoba to work on with my son.

To the issues at hand. I recently bought a 1978 doba and due to a faulty lean burn system it would only start up once a day and then flood out. My solution was to convert away from the lean burn to a pertronix ignitor III system to clean up some of the under-hood wiring and eliminate problem areas in the setup. Since installing the system the car now cranks up everytime we start it but now I have other problems, primarily what seems to be an over abundance of crankcase pressure. I will run through the process below.

Removed old lean burn distributor and carb.
replaced disy with pertronix III disy and flamthrower 1.5 ohm coil. (eliminated ballast)
replaced carb with ede. 650 cfm avs carb
deleted egr vacuum and vacuum amplifier device.
currently running only PCV valve to front of carb, Vacuum line to rear of carb off the far side vaccum cannister port. plugged off near side canister port that used to go to front of lean burn carb, break booster terminates to factory manifold location along with vac line for windshield washer. port to vac amplifier is blocked off. Also replaced valve cover gaskets, plugs and wires.

So the issue I am having now after timing the engine and getting it running pretty good I seem to have excessive crankcase pressure. I had a small oil leak prior to changes but now it seems to be pouring out the back of the motor onto the manifolds creating tons of smoke. Also the new pcv valve exploded under load. I replaced the cheap plastic 2 piece pcv with a steel base crimped pcv for a ford to eliminate the exploding pcv issue but I still have the oil leak.

Should I reinstall the vac amplifier and all the corresponding hoses or could the egr being plugged off cause the increase in crankcase pressure. I plan to mess with it again on Friday but wanted to see if anyone had done a similar desmog and experienced the same issues.
