I'm looking for some input on adjusting the rockers on a 318 Poly motor. Should they be done with each piston @ TDC on the comp stroke or is there some other order to do this starting with #1 on TDC & adjusting #6 and so forth rotating 90.
Please only respond if you truly know a poly motor. These motors are quite different than your traditional head set up.
Thanx AL

It shouldn't matter what engine when it comes to adjusting valves. The lifter must be on the base circle of the cam to get accurate results. The 318 poly has the same firing order as the other engines so the MoPar lash decal will work.

Sorry ! What I meant was the rockers cant be adjusted by ear with the engine running. The adjusters are not on the pivot point so adjusting them this way cant be done.
What I was told and did was #1 TDC compression & set intake & exhaust for #2 & #8
rotate 90 & set #1 & #4
rotate 90 & set #8 & #3
rotate 90 & set #4 & #6
rotate 90 & set #3 & #5
rotate 90 & set #6 & #7
rotate 90 & set #5 & #2
rotate 90 & set #7 & #1
Started it up and sounds ok a little tapping but not too sure if this is correct. I want to re-check them again tonight.
