Hello, looking into building a 318 poly stroker for my 63 Sport Fury. Looking to hear from anyone who has done this and what work was needed on the heads. I have been in contact with Jim Bowen Race Engines in Pa to do the build but would like to hear from someone who has done it.
TopBanana posted info on his Poly which is close to my goal which is basically;
.040 over with 4" stoke
9.5 to 10 comp ratio
TTI headers
wind tunnel intake
mopar elect ignition
3:55 gear
275 tire
its going to be a cruiser with maybe a trip to the track once a year for fun. not looking to put huge money into it or squeeze every ounce of performance out of it, just a fun cruiser that makes you smile when its hammer down.
again, the heads are my concern and what will need to be done at the minimum to build a good package?
thank you

Try to get your hands on a few back copies of Chrysler Power magazine. They have done quite a bit of R&d on the 318 poly. lots of valuable info including porting work.

Search': Gary Pavlovich' on this site. You will learn a lot in a short time. Then send him a personal message. He is more than happy to talk with you on these motors. A wealth of information and great help in getting what you want from your Poly.

I ended up buying parts through him, while having machine work done local to me. He even called the machine shop on my behalf to ensure the correct porting was done to the heads. Very happy with the outcome.

Good luck, and keep us updated!

We run an add in Chrysler Power magazine. They have an ongoing Poly program and sell new, aluminum Poly heads, their own finned aluminum valve covers, their own highrise aluminum intake manifold. Porting etc. I have belonged to their site for some time. One of their vendors is PolySuperPac.com . Check them out.

Thank You, I have the new Poly intake and checked their website after reading your reply but only found BB alum heads, i will phone them. what add do you run in the mag?

These heads with proper assembly & a good intake manifold flow with a calculated componet configuration can produce over 500 HP

Nice work but I have to ask why? in most cases you still end up with around maybe 400hp for a lot of $$$$$.
Wouldn't be my first choice. But then again I guess many would question our building a 9 second 4 door 62 Plymouth.

When I said we, I was talking about this site. I run an add in Mopar Collectors Guide. I go to the Fall Fling and Spring Fling evry year in Van Nuys, So. Cal. I also go to the Mopars in May show at the CSRD California School for the deaf in Riverside. Every body knows me as the Hinge Guy. Just look for the large black and blue MOPAR tent. I am also on eBay, moparleo since 99.
