found an engine out of a 73 imperail with 60 k . got the tranny back from the shop all gone thru with a stage 3 transgo kit. budget is gone out the door with the schumacker order. free shipping hooked me on getting everthing at once ... headers package , ministarter, and misc... need to figure out if i am going to just run the engine and build funds for the next phase or pull $$$ from another project/ i.e. sell my norton.

A gasket kit isn't that expensive.

At least pull the engine down to see if it's ok internally.

I got a shock in that the $375.00 440 I bought was really nice and things like the bores were perfect but the upper piston ring was broke in almost every bore when they came out! I spent a little on the heads and a little on a rebuild kit but in the end it paid huge dividends!

regarding the engine

engine is out of a running car. i did a compression test all good and close. also borrowed a bore scope from work and took a peek at the walls at the same time and all looked good. over beers last night the guy who is helping (while honestly i am helping him) decided to not openng it up until i afford some aftermarket heads, but to install the engine and have some fun asap. so running it as is but for a new carb and the headers till more $$$ gets closer. i am not one for marathon projects and i have blown and pushed my budget where it will be several months before i have $$$, unless i sell a toy that gives me joy. will try to take some pics of the stuff as it all gets installed.
