360 oil pan?

i do have the original roller lifters that i got with the engine. they came in the little v things in sets of 2 with a weird tray like thing t hold them down i believe.
id prefer it to sound mean for sure. it is not going to be a super high performance motor just something fun to take to cars and coffee. its a 408 btw. got the stroker kit in a few weeks ago

yeah.. those are dogbones and spider... same setup the 5.0 mustangs used forever also... mine work fine but are a little noisy...

ohhh yeah.... the 408 will mellow it out a lot.. mines in a 318.. did you get the CNC kit?

yeah. it seems awsome. got it balanced by them. took right around 3 weeks to ship. right around $1800 total. i cant wait to get started

very cool.. i just got my block a few days ago... have to find a truck to get it to a machine shop

The mount bracket on the driver's side will work....it's just a matter of the ear being spaced further apart. The passenger side is the same so it'll fit without having to use washers/spacer. Don't know why they did that but they did.

oooooooh. so i can just use stock mounts just need to add spacer?

nice, if you are going to use the factory spider/roller setup you can't go over like .545 (1.5ratio) (i'm told) just fyi
do you know enough to give me a quick rundown on how cams work. i have 0 clue about lobe seperation lift all that. i generally understand difference between roller and flat tappet but thats about the extent hahaha. ive checked online and watched videos but it never makes sence. When you say 1.5 ratio would that be in relation to rocker arms?

I am not an expert but a quick run down...

Rocker ratio is the multiplication the rocker gives to the cam.. so a cam with .400 lift at the lobe with a 1.5rocker would be .600 at the valve.. just mulitply lobe lift X Rocker ratio and you get valve lift...

Lobe separation gets into some deep crap.. rule of thumb though is the lower the LSA the nastier it will idle and react differently (LSA gets crazy deep and there is no set rule as your entire combo would be different from someone elses even with the same LSA due to cubic inches, heads.. airflow.. everything)

Duration is how long the valve is open... higher duration moves the torque/power curve higher in the rpm range....

Lastly.. it's easy to want a massive cam but overcamming is HORRIBLE.... it will make you hate a car as much as any ex you have had...

Last thing.. if you ask for cam advice you are going to get 100 different opinions and some guys forget we all aren't doing full on race cars :)

BTW, i just looked at those heads, the springs are borderline strong enough for that cam, the seat pressure is fine, the open pressure is kind of weak for the cam.. will probably be ok but don't be spinning super high.. Also.. speedmaster sells the heads for like $150 less than jegs...

$180 less... that's a chunk of money... shop around before you buy :)

hahahahha. so if i get the howards rattler cam and lifter combo with the 1.6 rockers that will not work? or it will only not work with the stock lifter and spider set?

Your link to the rocker

The rockers don't have any effect on the lift of the lifters, they only change what happens after the fulcrum of the rocket... i went with 1.5s cause.. reasons.. but 1.6 will work.. and put your lift at .560 on the exhaust.

BTW.. the link to your rockers is wrong.. it points to the heads.. if you get a chance repost the link...

BTW... you will need to get pushrods made.... get them from smith brothers... it looks like those rockers come with a measuring tool

yeah thats one thing i like. i knew id have to measure changing up all the geometry and stuff but that little kit seems to make it easy

Yeah... order a set of 12" calipers if you don't have any.. normal ones are like 6" and won't be long enough. they are cheap

yeah i need to get a decent torque wrench as well. i should be getting most of the rest of my parts next month so im hoping to get started on this build process really soon. Any recommendations on a harmonic balancer or dampener? i know it has to be 0 balanced or neutral balanced but im not really finding them anywhere.
