A typical rule of thumb is to size the header primary tube 1/8" larger than the exhaust valve because of the boundary layer of gases flowing in a pipe. For the 1.74" valve 1.875" is about right. 1.75" won't mean the death of your engine, but for higher RPM performance you would benefit from the larger ID.
