anyone have opinions on cams for a 383. Block is a 68 HP block going into a 67 satellite auto, sure grip rear end, not sure of the ratio. seen some people suggest factory 440hp cam grind but id like something with a mean sounding lope but still streetable. using stock 383hp heads and full length headers.

I have a 68 block in my 66. 383 with the following: Comp cam # CCA 21-242-4
It has .501 lift, 292 duration, 106 Centerline and 110 lobe separation. I also have 906 heads with Hooker Super Comp headers. Sure Grip rear. I like mine and wouldn't change it for the world.

After chatting with the guys at Mancini I went with the 21-223-4 from comp cams. That's if you want hydraulic. My setup is stock 383 bottom end with 906 heads, eddy perf. RPM intake, 650 Holley DP, full headers, and 4.10 rear end. And it's a 4 speed.
