383 getting stroked, head question....

Between the quality difference and the horsepower difference, the stealth shouldn’t even be a consideration, however, given your small bore on that 383, you might want to look at finding a 400 block and using that with the Trick Flow heads instead. That also allows you to leave the 383 in it during the build.

383 is getting .060 over for the 496 stroker kit. Thats set me to 4.310 in bore. The current motor is seized anyway, piston rings dug into the sidewalls. Would rather keep the numbers matching block with the vehicle. I still have to get it tested. Haven't disassembled it yet, just going off of what was told to me upon purchase.

Beautiful set up! I will be using a carb, not the most efficient set up, I know. There is just something about it, I can't deny. I appreciate the help, and for some reason there aren't many post on 496 street cruisers
It is based on the 451 build in the article. But 496, the equivalent roller cam to their hydraulic flat tappet, and fuel injection. Theirs was over 500 lb/ft from 3k rpm. This 45 c.i. bigger and will idle at 800 rpm. Should be high 600 tq and be a kick to just put around in. Hopefully my granddaughter will inherit it. I got it from my Great grandmother.

Arc, if the #'s matching motor is seized & you don't know what you have and are getting into. You're much better starting with a decent 400 block for the build. Keep the #'s block for later when it's value means something. Unless you're planning on the premium car show/collector scene, #'s match means nothing. But to each their own.
