413 Wedge

Oh, I forgot headers. Get the biggest tubes that'll fit you can afford.

The cross ram must be used with max wedge size ports. Unless money is not an issue, your better off going with the intake that Rusty suggested. Thats an Eddy Performer RPM. There are an endless variety of parts combos to use. The trick is using the right parts that work together to do what you want the motor to do. The combo outlined above will perform well for a strong street motor. Should you still want a max wedge intake and heads, check E Bay and post wanted ads on all the Mopar Forums. But be prepared to shell out alot of money if your lucky enough to find a set. Good Luck!

Crossrams are for looks. Unless they are very professionally prepared (read MEGA BUCKS) you can beat them with a single four barrel every single time. Do you wanna run good or do you wanna look good?

This is not true. A&A Transmissions makes a crossram intake that is 440 port size. U can go fast with a crossram also. There are plenty of 10.0 cars running a crossram set up. Yes a single carb is easier to get to 10.0 but 10.0 is 10.0. The crossram looks cooler and you are still fast. The last time I looked a 10 sec car is fast.

And the 413 is /was a good motor. I ran low 12s with one back in the 70s at 5000 feet. In a 65 Belvedere. Auto, Holley 780 on a TM 7 intake. But I had 13 to 1 C/R with dome pistons and 915 ported heads. You cant get reasonably priced Domes for a 413 or 426 anymore. But keep the crankshaft from the 413. Its the same stroke as a 440 at 3.75 inches. You could use it in a 400 block(with a little machining) and come up with a 451. A real potent and popular combination these days. I have one and it runs great! Good luck!

Another option for a cross ram, is the STR-6 by Weiand. Its actually a street tunnel ram. Impressive looking and uses the 3-2 barrel set up carbs from the 440 6 pak motor. Pretty difficult to tune, I hear, but makes alot of power. And expensive. Saw one recently on Denver C List for $1800 complete with carbs.

Yeah, that A&A intake proved to be a flop, too. I forget which magazine did it, but one of them tested the thing and it was hideous compared to a well thought single four barrel. Crossrams are cool, but they are archaic.

I guess I,m looking for something different, I have a 69 Chevelle 2 door post car, 230 6cyl. A 67 Chevelle HT 454, Just finished a 70 Cuda 340 6 Pack, so looking under the hood I thought the cross ram might be different. I,ll have to check out the cost and see where I want to go with this project, It,s not that I have a timeline to finish it.

the best years are the older ones they put out more horse power but the older you go the price usually goes up quite a bit
