426 Engine ID

Hi all,

I have a 1966 Hemi Charger. I am not an expert, but I have been told there is a casting at the front top of the block stamped with the engine designation. In 1966, I was told it should be BH 426 for the 426 Hemi and B440 for a 440. This engine is stamped H 1038. Does anyone know what this indicates?

Doesn't sound correct. Have you checked the casting date of the block behind the starter?

I have a local Mopar guy fixing a few things. I'll ask him to check the casting date of the block behind the starter.
