440 cast crank! can it handle 500 plus HP and be reliable ???

Haven't had any experience with a 440 cast crank. I can tell you long ago Dave Koffel told me he'd never seen a broken one. I can tell you we run a stock 360 cast crank with a 76 mm turbo that makes 700+ and so far no issues.

actually I've been told 600 HP on a cast crank and 800 on a steel crank kinda nuts i know, and yes, locked out with lots of timing, 525 comp cam with 1.6 roller rockers "not stock 1.5" so total lift of 560 using the 1.6 rockers! ! very flip-en cool, ported heads, 5 angel valve job...the power is coming from the top end..and the guys at the shop couldn't believe it ether, and said this would a perfect magazine build,

I have heard 500 HP is no problem for a cast crank.

I'm a little puzzled by the 8.5:1 CR with such a big cam but I guess the numbers don't lie. Seems to me you will have to put a ton of timing in it to make it run, or just lock out the distributor at full advance.

I can say I personaly ran a cast crank in my 69 RR drag car in the late 80's. I ran the car two years, every weekend. Min 6-10 laps a weekend. 2nd year with a 150 hp shot of NOS. Crank held up fine. PS footbrake, no tranny brake. I would say consevative HP would be 450hp motor 600 with NOS I raced 1/8th mile mostly. 7.60's motor 7.10's NOS 3400lbs with driver.
