440 crank issue

Ok. I gotchya now. The whole flippin thing is reverse rotation cam and all. What a hermorphordite. lol I still would bet you could physically use the block though......eacept for the excellent points BCBOUND made about the rust. I would not trust it I don't believe.
 
Well, that was the other option I figured on for making a reverse rotation engine work. Thanks for the pics.
 
Sure thing guys, I thought it was pretty interesting. From the few people I have read about using one of these motors all that needs to be done is change the cam and distributor gear as well as grind the groves off the crank. But I guess it's better to be out a couple hundred bucks I spent on this then to drop even more into it only to have problems later on... I actually found two within 10 miles of me, one needs rebuilt but is out of a truck and the other is a fresh short block with top of the line and custom parts in it for 3k (probably cheaper then building one). But I doubt it would like my 906 heads... lol
 
The single most important question...

Fresh water cooled ? Raw water cooled ? if it was raw water, leave it alone
