440 Engine Numbers

Ok update again.......got the dizzy pad #'s slightly wrong,( No I was not upside down..lol)

7T 440 E

2... 1... +............................................................... += maltese cross


so I understand this to be.

'77 Trenton 440 cast crank
with the 2 missing the rest of the month and 1 the first shift, .001 over crank


there are no numbers on the pad above the sump pan.... above this pad are the casting numbers...


Sounds right except cranks are .001" UNDER not over. The 7 would indicate this engine was installed in a 77 car but it's almost guaranteed the block will have a 76 cast date. This is still a good builder even with the cast crank.
 
Here is a pic of the serial # on a `68 383.

well there should be the same numbers on either sie of block under the headers only difference the drivers side will have a date as all 440's from 75-78 are the same, (correct me if i am wrong) unless someone ground them off maybe?
