440 to 904 adapter

A guy I race with is a big Ford fan. He has 2 nice fast Mustang classics he races. I was talking with him about this & he said he knows of Ford Super Stock racers who use 904 parts inside their Ford trans cases. He volunteered a lot of info. It was pretty much the same. Lighter parts, cheap to buy, easy to find. I don't know how that can be legal, but I guess if no one checks....I have talked to quite a few people about this. Man there are some people out there who absolutely hate 904s, and others who seem to love the darn things.

Yes it was.

impossible to put 727 internals in a 904 case even with machining
nor would 904 internals fit in a 727 case
the only interchangeable part is the valve body, even that would not be a benefit because the spring rates are different.

like putting a hemi head on a 318
sorry aint buying it
I am by far no engineer or a "Know it all", but based on my experience I find it impossible to put 727 internals in a 904 case. As far as putting 904 internals in a C4 case, that too is far fetched!
based on 30 years + experience building transmissions.

I have been hearing about 904 internals inside a 727 case for some time now. Have heard it from knowledgeable experienced Mopar racers. However PDFROGMAN is so adamant that it aint possible & he seems to have the credentials to back up his views that I'm begining to wonder if this is one of those 440 hemi stories. As for 904 internals inside a Ferd case. I'm pretty sure Rob was referring to a C6. Yet even still I too am skeptical on this one.

it is physically impossible to fit 727 internals into a 904 case as far as 904 internals in a c 6 case again you would have to completely re engineer the case . best comparison... it is like trying to bolt chevy heads on a a wedge motor
I searched the internet looking for proof that this could be done and have found none. if you have pictures please show me and I will humbly take my lumps

I worked for Lombardi bros in Brooklyn in the 90's at least 6 cars in the Friday night shoot out (Englishtown) running from the mid 8's to 10's. had my units in them I retired due to health issues in 04.

my unit is in this car (owners 69)

I don't think you killed it. Questions where answered. Really appreciate your input. I ordered a converter from CRT & waiting on it, so my car is up on stands. Going to stay with the small block/904 for now. I passed on the 440. I work on other peoples cars & have a fairly busy C body business. So who knows when I can get my car out again anyway.
