well the first time putting a 440 together, and the old valley pan just had silicone on it, but the fell pro kit comes with a valley pan and 4 intake gaskets, one goes underf the pan on the head on each side and one set goes on the top, someone told me not to use these? what do you guys do?

Use them - with some silicone gasket sealer. IMO you can never over do sealing for oil leaks. I've been fighting them on my motor since it went back together a year ago - most are at the rear of the valley pan...

I have never used anything other than the valley pan itself and never had an issue. I use a THIN bead of sealer and that's it. Unless the paper gaskets are really thin you will not be able to get the intake on.

X2 the only sealer I use is in the corners were the head meets the block..Artie
