I know this subject has been on many times already, as I spent the morning trying to get a "Good" part #, and Vendor to order from previous posts. Current build is a 440 for my '63 Dodge, '62-'65 V-8 K-member, with Schumacher mounts. Looking for a 5qt+1 oil pan that will work. I don't mind doing some slight clearance work on the right side corner of the K-member for insurance purposes. Sorry to beat a dead horse on this subject, just looking for a up to date source. Thanks for all input...

Look in the for sale section as there is a 6 qt pan for sale.

Looking at the thread, and checking the Part #, I don't believe that pan will fit a '62-'65 K-member with a BB install, as C-Dave mentions. Thanks for the heads up on it though. I think there are 6qt+1 pans available, but didn't want to loose the ground clearance. Will keep looking, and hope to get some more feedback...Thanks All

I would cut the k frame unless it’s a factory big block, numbers matching 4 speed.

I don't think there are any "stock" type 6qt pans made now for the early b-body. there is a 4qt + 1 for the filter that might work. the pan for sale is a '70 6pak/street hemi pan and the sump will be at least an inch and half too far forward. of course the sump could be moved back but then a pick-up would need to be modified or fabbed.

440 Source sells a 7 qt. pan that works well with a stock V8 crossmember. I used one on my '64 Polara and it just required a minor trim of the crossmember for extra clearance. Has 3/4'-1" clearance to the steering as well.

Could you get a measurement as to how far below the K-member it drops ? Our roads up here are pathetic, and trying to keep enough clearance to prevent a crushed pan. Thanks

I was looking at the 440 Source web, as above, and saw this pan, 121-1001. It appears to have the "look" of what I'm searching for. Has anyone used this pan, and for what application ? Thanks

Man, I know what you are going through.

I'm useing the Sum 121-1001

You can't go by the pics in those adds. Here's my thread on what I went through. When I first filled it with oil, I used five quarts and it still looked like it needed another. So I used six quarts total. After break-in I drained and filled with four quarts, then one more for the new filter. Now the level is good at five quarts total. Go figure.

KK, I saw those threads, and ended up confused anyway, so I posted in hope of coming away with a solution, but the wheels are still spinning. I'm starting to think I may grab a 7qt pan, and try to cut out 1"-2" of depth from the sump, to increase ground clearance, but it seems like a lot of work, for less capacity ? I think I should have kept my '69 Bee years ago, and retired Happy, and with some extra $$ in my pocket ! Thanks for the feedback & help on this...

I would like to have a little more centerlink to pan clearance. It's ok now but as my motor mounts age I think it's going to tighten up too much for my liking. Then I'll probably go with the seven quarts that everyone likes. I don't think it hangs down too far.

KK I run an old Moroso pan&pickup from the late ‘70’s in my ‘68. Don’t have to worry about mounts sinking because they’re also Moroso steel, lol. Never “hit bottom” yet(knock on wood) but now I’m once again thinking of your “bad parts” post from a couple months ago. The stuff all of us changed/swapped out with never a worry?! Now I shudder to think of changing anything.

Agree! Most anything you needed was at your disposal back then. Now it's hard to find or the price of the piece you need is sky high. Reproduction items are mostly junk.

Morroso 20766 5 quart fits perfect no cutting of crossmember and looks stock I have had on my 65 for 2 years
I looked that pan up on the Morosso site, and it says it "will not fit a '62-'65 chassis" ? 1965 ply, are you sure you have the '62-'65 K-member in your car, and not a later style ? That would make a difference. Thanks for any input on this...
