512 Trick Flow 270 Dyno today

Great power!
Could turn into a :soapbox: episode after :steering: it too hard on 100% pump gas.

I know the quality of fuel can even vary station to station here, I stick with one and don't go to others. Engine operating temperatures can even increase octane requirements. Just don't want to see you hurt the motor running on junk fuel if it's going to be driven on the street.

Really not calling u a liar, but ur experiances (probably more than mine) w/ victor type heads ain`t he whole story, I don`t have a problem w/ them, a went w/ the best bang for the buck when I bought the heads. I do think the hughs rockers probably have more clearance than most of the others. I had a set of proform to start w/, and they had 4 rockers that are notched in the upper corners for that reason, I didn`t notice them and didn`t put them on the ends, and they hit , but didn`t when I switched them.
I think it comes down to the old adage of there’s more than one way to skin a cat. It’s still my opinion that the victors make great power but they’ll always be an 80% engineered solution in my mind.

If you need more flow than a 270 why use a Victor when you could use an Indy -1? Victors seem to be a pain in the ***. Indy customer service leaves something to be desired but the products work. On a -1 everthing fits, they flow as good or better than a Victor. My bet is the weigh less as well. So what advantage does a Victor have?

None, but we’re ruining this guy’s thread with this discussion lol. My apologies to Bigfoot and congrats on the success of your build!

Agreed with Hemirunner. It's nice to see some actual numbers on Trick Flows and we have yet another good head available to us! And it sounds like they're quite reasonable too when all said and done.

True enough. I can see why a lot of guys would have interest in the 270 head, nice build.

Great numbers, I have never seen that cam before. Comp doesnt have any info on the website for it do you have the cam card? TF PP270 and this big solid looks like a winning combination. Street driving it would be interesting.

Like hemirunner mentioned that motor would probably top out at 775hp or so the way it is pulling at 6k assuming it gets enough air. Congrats.

I’ll post the cam card when I get home. Gary said he has used it in quite a few other builds and really liked the results he got with it.

Want this good news now ?
If you ditch that 850 carb and buy a HVH 4150 to 4500 tapered carb adapter and then bolt a 1050 Dominator on top of that Manifold you will probably gain about 50HP.
I was at a Test & Tune weekend last year and on Friday afternoon with my 850 Carb bolted to my Edelbrock 4150 Intake the last pass I made was 10.93
Friday nite I took off the 850 Mighty Demon carb, bolted on the HVH 4150 to 4500 tapered Carb Adapter, then bolted on my brand new 1050 Sportsman Model Dominator ($799 at Summit) and first run Sat AM was 10.61, then went low, low, 10.60's the rest of Saturday.
Now...since then I have done lots more upgrades and the car is running consistent 10.16's t0 10.18s.
Those upgrades were Enlarging my INDY SEZ Std Port Heads to MAX WEDGE size, and then porting them to about 350cfm, and then installing an INDY Max Wedge Intake manifold, and a transbrake and new slicks.
Not wanting to hi-jack your thread, just giving you more to anticipate what you can do with your already great Motor. Good Job

Next we will relocate springs inboard, mini tub, and Subframe connectors, possibly torque boxes too... building a custom width Dana as well. Think I’m gonna need a roll bar, a lift off 6 pack hood, and...fuel system, better brakes. Good lord where will it end!

When I started with my 66 Coronet it had a warmed over 440 cubic Inch motor and ran 12.10's@ 111mph.
About $20,000 later the car now runs 10.158 @ 131+. The $20,000 includes new motor, trans, Dana, Complete Cal Trac Setup, new big headers, Fuel Pump, regulator, new MSD, MSD Box, BE-Cool Radiator, front and rear tires, etc, etc, etc...NOPE, it never ends.
Now I can't make any more HP with my 505" Standard 2-Bolt Main Cap block (should have started with a Mega 4 Bolt Main Cap Block) the only place I can keep spending money on is knocking another 150-200lbs off the car so it will run 10.00 flat....then, and only then I might consider it done....LOL,LOL, LOL

I’ve never raced at a track before, had a 350-400hp GTO as the fastest car I’ve had. Going to take it slow and learn how to do this right, but I’m sure the day for this information will be coming. Thanks

Bigfoot, is this going in a street car or drag car? What fuel are you going to be running? Make sure to play it really safe on the street in the beginning, definitely invest in a Wideband 02 setup if you haven't already!

I want a wideband O2 setup for my 6bbl 440. Dual wideband as in 1 sensor for L and 1 for R exhaust.
Suggestions? Part #? Source?
The 6bbl is tricky enough to tune, I'd like to know what the A/F ratio looks like as I drive and race it.
Thanks.
