Hey guys,
I'm looking for a reccomendation on a intake manifold for my 440 based 543 stoker build.
I have a tunnelram on my shelf but i don't want a hood scoop on my car. ( 1972 plymouth Satellite )
I want to use my car as a street/strip car so it has to run nice in traffic as well.

Thanks.
John

That hood looks very flat. Isn't there a 337 manifold for stage VI heads? I would think that would be best because they are very low.

I ran a 543 stroker in my Challenger. It had an Edelbrock Performer RPM aluminum intake port matched to my heads. I ran 440 Source aluminum heads. Good torque, made peak HP I think at 5600 RPM and made 615 HP / 651 ft/lbs of torque on the dyno. A good "grunt" motor!

For max power (700-ish)
1st- 337
2nd - Indy 2D (modified)
3rd - Holley SD

Isn't the 337 for stock heads? The #s 927/928 come to mind.. one is a 4150, one a 4500. The cast and part numbers were close and confusing.

This is the only stage 6er I've built

Not an RB but Trick Flow Power Port 240s with a Trick Flow Track Heat manifold is an awesome combo on a B Block.

The 337 is intended for std height MW port heads(like stock MW heads) on an RB block.
If run on raised port heads, or something like stage 6’s with adapters, the valley plate will not seal the end rails.

There are 4 dedicated stage 6 manifolds.
All are for RB blocks, to be used without spacers.
There are std port and MW versions for both 4150 and 4500 applications.

These manifolds don’t fit any other combination of
heads/blocks.

One version is what came on the stage 6 headed MP 500” crate engines.
They’re not super tall, as seen in post #7.

About the lowest semi-suitable intake you’re going to find for use on an RB with stage 6’s while using the adapter plates is the Holley SD.

Thanks for the input guys. I really appreciate it.
Now i've started to do a quick searsch for a 337 intake manifold but apperently they are almost impossible to find.
I've found this tread on this board.
FOUND - Mopar Performance M1 337 intake

So if anyone has one and want to sell it,please let me know.
If i can't find it,i think i have to go another route with heads and intake and sell off my zeus heads. Any suggestions on this?
Thanks!

No, as PRH pointed out, the 337 is for 62-64 Chrysler max wedge cast iron heads.

Thanks. I'm learning every day lol.
I have a 440 Holley SD intake manifold also but i thought this intake was too small for a 543 build.

The SD will go under the hood and has proven itself on the dyno many times.

I see you have M/T valve covers.. did you personally install them? Any grief ?
Good eye Rem. No grief really. Those valve covers are circa 1975. The ones I ran back in the day. Had Cuda Chick polish and powder coat them. She did an awesome job.
I had to do a little clearancing on them to get them to fit the big rocker arm shaft mounts on the Trick Flows. Had to make custom baffles to clear the Isky rocker arms but other than that they fit like a glove.

Just to reiterate, and hopefully not confuse the issue any……

Using raised port stage 6 heads on an RB block with the adapter plates allows the fitment of any normal RB width manifold to be bolted on.

So, the 337 would physically fit, but unless the heads/adapters are MW size, there will be a port mismatch.
And, it’s likely that combo won’t fit under the flat hood and still provide adequate clearance for a decent air filter.
Additionally, the built in valley plate won’t seal to the block without spacers fabricated to fill in the gap.

There is really no upside to running that combination of parts.
If you felt like you needed that style of manifold to run with stage 6 heads on an RB block, you would just run the particular stage 6 manifold that fits the desired port size/carb configuration, which allows you to nix the adapters.

The std port/4150 carb version is P5249358.
GTXJohn had one of those for sale a while back.
Also, the numbers cast onto the manifold are “casting” numbers, which are different than the part number.
