Hi curious if anyone else has had this problem I have a 6.1 and a tr6060 swapped in a 69 AMX using the factory harness and pcm from a 09 SRT challenger that had a 6.1 and six speed the pcm has had the skim code ( Immobilizer) deleted… I also made sure immobilizer was removed from ignition switch so wouldn’t mess up pcm after skim code was deleted
It won’t start unless I spray starting fluid in throttle body then it starts right up and runs with no issues great throttle response idles great but as soon as I shut it off I have to spray again
Driving me crazy any info would be great I think I’ve messed with it so long I need to step back and see if this has happened to anyone else
Thanks

Your PCM is not priming the fuel pump during the start up. it should prime and then turn off until you start it (crank the engine) and then run. I would say that this is almost certainly a PCM issue.

Yep, start with the obvious - any fault codes present?

Fuel pump primes fine plenty of fuel pressure at fuel rail
Only codes in pcm are for the rear O2 sensors which I’m not running

Ok so it primes but will not start unless you use starting fluid?

What this says to me at this point is that the injectors are not working or at least working correctly. The starting fluid is obviously igniting in the cylinders which is creating a vacuum and drawing the fuel in to sustain it running.

Therefor I would be taking a very hard look at the injectors, but again I am thinking this is a PCM issue.

Me too I’m thinking the injectors are losing signal while cranking but it would have to be the ground pulse because the coil packs and injectors share the same power source so if it lost voltage the coil packs would be dead too and the starting fluid wouldn’t do anything
When it fires with the starting fluid and I release the key the injectors start working and the car runs … going to try a noid light and see exactly what the injectors are getting
What I might try is key on and jump starter and see if it runs then
This is my second hemi swap and this one is killing me I didn’t have any of these problems out of my 69 satellite convertible I did
Thanks for any and all input !

Maybe try cranking it longer.. it's taking a while to pick up and sort out the crank / cam relation??
