Informational question: Were the carb openings cut out,or did some come that way? Years ago,I had date-coded 1962,-3,and -4 cross-rams. Each had the 4-hole configuration;the -62 had the smaller primaries, the other two(an April 63 and December 63) had the equal-sized openings.
If it came that way,it's a new one to me,and something new learned.
It has been cut/modified. The '62-mid '63 had the equal sized openings for the 3447 AFB. When the Stage 2 came out in June '63, the secondaries were opened up for the 3705 AFB and the same set-up was used in '64 on the Stage 3 engines.
I tell you what.....whoever did it, if that's what the deal is, sure did a fine job. I thought there was a factory open plenum version....I know there were several versions, but I ain't a max wedge expert by any means.
The back in the day racers were opening them up almost from day one as they found it ti be an advantage. Any machine shop csan make it look like it was made that way from the get go.
