62-65 B Body big blocks and the 440 source oil pan

I'm sorry, but that is not a huge surprise. The 62-65 k-member is different from later k's, and never had a hemi, therefore never a hemi pan! What works in a 66 up b-body probably won't work in a 62-65, and that would definitely include a hemi pan.
A milodon 30930 will work, but hang an inch or two below the k-member. My exhaust hangs lower.
Hey there ..so this 30930 will work on a 65?

It works on my 62, should work on a 65. Mine is hung on elephant ears, but that shouldn't make a difference, the ears were built for it while it was on stock mounts.
My k is trimmed slightly for a different pan that had a sharper point on the front end of the sump.

You do know that you will need a matching pickup with that pan, right?
#18325 for 3/8 pipe, call milodon if you have the 1/2 pipe pickup (hemi).

Even if you don't trim the K frame alot. Nipping out the RF corner of the flange helps.

Fought with a stock 383 in a 62 Sport Fury. Everyone says you should have clearance between pickup and oil pan. Well you can see where the pickup rested on 2 different places on two different rebuilds. In the 1970 service book Chrysler said the pickup should rest on the pan. We left it there.

Depends on whether you have an aftermarket pickup for a deep pan, or a stock pickup for a stock pan. Stock pickup needs to be on the bottom of the pan, aftermarket that bottom feeds need to be off the bottom 3/8-1/2 inch.

Thanks, didn’t know that
