62 Dodge Dart painted

Just removed my grill. Have some minor body work behind it. Noticed two more small spots that don't get painted.

Are you going to paint yours?

Also I'm going to need the small clips that are used at the beginning of the grill trim. (See pic). Any idea on where to get them?

The polara 500 grille is different to the other models,in that it's is as Kid's picture.

The paint on the other models is only on the ends of the grille. The paint is to represent the gaps. The paint is faded in this pic but it goes from top to bottom.

Update also found this better pic...notice the black paint on the horizontal pieces running between gaps..don't now if this is original never seen it before??

Good info. You can barely see the ends being painted if you didn't own one. Makes sense though.

Amazing color, and even cooler exhaust manifolds. I never get over seeing those.

62 Dart assembly progress

Nerve wracking work, but got bumpers on the Dart with no dings, chips or scratches!

Man, that looks sharp!

looking very good like how you used the license plate for trim :headbang:

Looking great RVW!

Do you use some masking tape on the body to keep from bumping the paint?

I prefitted the bumpers to the brackets then mounted the bumpers on the car prior to paint. Worked out real good. I wrapped some micro fiber cloths to the bumpers with masking tape then took two layers of closed foam packaging material and loosly put that on the body sides. Then took some low adheasion masking tape and put 3 layers on the front and back of the car where the bumper might contact. Took longer to prep the car for the installation then mounting the bumpers.

Love the Dark Turquoise, good to see it on other cars! People ask me "when you paint your car are you going to change the color?" NOPE!
Is the paint code on the '62 LL1 also?

In 62 the color is called HH-1 Metallic Emerald

More progress

Those panels look so nice Rick are you happy with them??my panels are just now being done and it's 24 months!
Did you get anything else from SMS ?
Also any idea where we get the original A/C hoses?

The door panels look great and just with a trial fit they will fit great. SMS used my original door panel upper steel parts. I got everything from SMS the 60/40 split front seat covers and rear seat covers fit perfectly. The sun visors and the armrests are also perfect. Will be installing the SMS headliner in a couple of weeks. As far as the A/C hoses Joe Suchy has everything you need if your car came with factory A/C he has all the hard lines and the soft lines. I got the dryer from Classic air and it fit the original mounting bracket perfectly, they rebuilt my compressor and clutch. Now just waiting on my radiator from Glen-Ray and should be able to fire the motor up in a couple of weeks.

Thanks for the update! Just when I start to wonder how you have been doing, you seem to post something.
Looking forward to the headliner installation ;-)
