62 Fury needing opinion on trim

I go to this group when ever i need mechanical or technical help. Now i need opinions on cosmetics. First if your a purist don't bother posting i all ready know what you think. 62 Fury convertible later year model so it has the thin stainless down the sides not the thick and has the thick chrome belt molding across the top of the fenders, my dad changed to a 383 in 65 with a 727 trans, i added 4 wheel disk and borgeson power steering. Its never going to be original again. After the rotisserie I epoxyed the entire car then sealed the entire car with the color silver. I know the engine compartment matched the body in that year but i didn't want a white engine compartment or undercarriage. First question i'm not sure if i want to paint the outer body silver. Am i ok going to a slightly different color like either a pearl white or a silver white mix to the body. Second question i spent a lot of money on good chrome and stainless but Chrome on silver paint or on white really disappears into the paint color. I'm thinking of blacking out everything shiny in satin black Either by wrapping it or plastikote. Nothing that would permanently destroy the metal underneath. This is not a car for shows. This will not be a trailer queen. I just want a nice car that also looks good. What do you guys think?

if you have a white base with pearl on top the chrome will stand out. its the color of pearl that will make it different what color is the interior. match the pearl to it. just a thought

I'll agree. The chrome will stand out on white or silver. The engineers placed the chrome right on the body lines to accent the contours. I don't think painting them black would look good. The other alternative I've seen is to de-chrome the car, but thats alot of work closing up all the trim holes.

Download a picture into a drawing program and play around with different options. Here's some white and silver.

Not a purist but have always liked keeping the trim because it separates from similar models and if its in good shape leave it chrome i guess I'm old school

I totally agree with bearman and khryslerkid. The chrome will look great on white or silver. DO NOT black out your chrome!!!! I think you wil be very disappointed and it will look like $#!&. You said you wanted opinions, there's mine. If you want the blacked out chrome look, do it on a modern car, not your '62.

Have your strips wrapped. Don't like the colour. Remove the wrap and try another colour.

Thanks for all the opinions. It was just a thought and after finding these NOS jewels. It would have been hard to mess with them. No one replied to the idea of having a different color engine compartment im guessing you guys are ok with that.

Just in case you haven't got the memo on it, mopars always painted the engine compartments body color. Painting it black is a Chevy thing. But its your car
