62 Only

Still a work in progress. Have had this car since 2015. My 2 oldest son's and i (along with my wife) bought the car from my cousin. He purchased the Savoy at an estate auction in Zanesville, Ohio. The estate auction was for man named Terry Thompson, he had kept a lot of exotic animals on his property and was constantly getting in trouble with the police because the animals would always get loose. He was in financial ruin. In 2011 he committed suicide. My cousin knew of him from growing up at the race track and his father being friends with Terry. My wife thinks the car is cursed, because when we fix something it seems like after a week or two we have fix the same thing over again. My boys and I don't care. We love the car.

If the same thing keep breaking, your not getting to the root cause. Not trying to be smart ***.

I understand that, but usually the 2nd time around we get it right then something else would break. Like the tail shaft housing. Fixed that now slip yoke wobbles at the end of the output shaft and ruined the seal. So not sure if out put shaft is bent. Never th out to check it when we were fixing it the first and 2nd time.

So Many threads out there. Lots of good ones but i want to talk about the Unicorns. The 62s a year that was one of a kind. The year that looked different depending on it was an early model or late year model. Some guys are purest i'm not into matching numbers but that's my opinion and probably has to do with the fact that my dad put a 383 in mine 50 plus years ago. I just put 4 wheel disc and i am making mine a little more modern. Last year I traveled 1200 miles to Carlisle only find a grand total of 5 62s and only one convertible (that's what i have) I go to the occasional car show plenty of late 60s there but rarely any 62s may find one at Garlits in two weeks but no convertibles. I would love some pictures and here some stories. I only have one reference when i have a question and that's Joe Suchy and i know hes tired of getting emails from me. I would like to create a community for those of us who still have or love and can share knowledge of 62 Mopars.
My 62. Ask away. I have had many 62's, including one I bought brand new.

Originally I had a six pak setup on it. Took it off when I went to the blower. Car is partially caged. Still need to finish that. Dana 60 rear that has been narrowed with Dutchman race axles. Rear end is pulled forward 1 1/2 inches. Engine is 440 with a 8-71 blower on it. The engine is pulled 5 inches backwards. 727 manual shift with reverse valve body. Solid motor and tranny plates. Gutted interior. Have two fuel tanks in the trunk. Primary tank is pump gas and second is AV gas. One pump for each tank and check valves at the regulator to prevent reverse flow into other tank. MSD boost controller so I can retard timing if needed. Rear tires are Sportsman Pro 29X18.5 but switching those to Hoosier QT DOT Pro 31x18.5. Need more traction now because of blower. Figuring on painting it primer hot rod black too. Not really into restoring it but making it as fun as I can and still streetable. Below pic is when it was still a six pak car setup.

Todd, I love your Plymouth. I used to run that Weiand 6-pak intake. How'd you like it? I never got it to work well on my RR. Traded it to my buddy that's running it on his 67 Hemi GTX. It's got a 440 in it right now. He loses 3-4 tenths with it, but loves the look. I always had a bog off the line. It loved the top end though!

Seemed to be fine for me. Pulled hard from idle to full throttle. Instant acceleration with no bogging when I went from idle to floor. Were you running manual or vacuum actuated on the outboard carbs?

Here is my '62 Savoy 4 door that is in the process of becoming a 2 door.
Currently a /6 column shift but will become a BB auto.
