Is it a rare thing to find these older cars with manual brakes, manual steering and air conditioning?

In my opinion, I would say "yes".
AC was not "mainstream" in 1962.
In my family, we did not have carpet in automobiles untill a 1972 car. No AC at all.

The manual steering and brakes I would say no as that was common in cars back then but as was stated the AC is definetly rare in my opinion in a 62 Savoy. You just did not see it in alot of cars back then. In fact fron the early 60's to the mid 70's if your muscle car had AC most took it off back then because as far as us gearheads were concerned it was a power robbing extra weight unit that would just slow the car down some. And us gearheads wanted all the power we could get. Ron

The manual brakes and steering would have been standard on a 62 Savoy. Factory A/C would have been quite scarce. A/C was out and available then but certainly not common, especially on the low end cars. I'd have to pull out my sales brochure to see if it was a listed option for a Savoy - but even if it wasn't listed I'm sure it could be ordered.

My 63 came with manual steering, manual brakes and A/C, A/C is now gone...

the air will be coming off but I was just curious as to that combo being something special. the 62 fury I'm waiting to get back came with both air and power steering, both of which are long gone

I know in the late 50's A/C units were mounted under the dash...but I am not sure about the early 60s stuff. Does it have the dash vents? I would be willing to venture that a 62 Savoy (being the entry level plymouth) with AC is quite rare indeed. My Polara 500 has manual steering and brakes no A/C and came with a 413 4bbl...and a radio!

it does have the a/c mounted under the dash and it came with a radio which was replaced years ago by the looks of the old kraco unit that is in it now

Underdash was either aftermarket or dealer installed.
