62 Trans Help/Buttons

Like mentioned above, the clicking sounds like the parking pawl maybe partially engaged. Also when the Park lever is not ~all the way~ to the left (OFF), the neutral button is stuck in by the Park lever. A spring holds the park lever OFF or ON, and if it breaks, the park lever will appear OFF but not actually far enough left to allow the neutral button to disengage. Looking under the dash at the bottom of the button case, you should see the spring in the picture (upper left), not broken

You can find adjusting procedure on internet just type in 62 torqueflite adj.
Its simple may need someone there to hold buttons.
the park cable is and easy one, which sounds like the noise , the shop may have pulled it out some.
As for shifting buttons they should be easy to push in.
