63' Fury Boulevard Cruiser!

So towards the end of last year I lost my grandpa. He didn't have a whole lot and what he did have he sold most of before he passed.
I inherited a couple of guns and after all the bills and other affairs were taken care of I had enough to by my 63' Fury. So I dedicate this build to him. Anyways, this is what I have so far. Its a 63' more door with only a little over 41k on the odometer! It has very little rust which is surprising considering it came from the North East, cant remember exactly where at the moment... I was planning on just freshening up the stock rear end and leaving it at that but after a long fight and a trip to the local machine shop we still were not able to get the rear hub off the drivers side axle. So I decided to take my 84' fifth ave and steal the rear end out from under it, while I was at it I pulled the front disc brake spindles and dual reservoir master cylinder and all of it is pretty much gonna bolt right in! Enough of my rambling! Time to post pics! This isnt all I have but I'll post more at a later date.

Please(!) invest in some jack stands. Cinder blocks can crack (fail) due to pulling and pushing on things in/ on the car itself. We would hate for something to happen to you while memorializing your grandpa!

Yeah I probably should... I have some older ones but probably not the safest to use. It wont be on the blocks for very much longer.

I'm planning on finishing up the brakes and rear end in the next couple of days and then it'll be back on the ground. After that its a full tune up then a nice long bath for her, then finally I'm going to remove all the surface rust I can and give her a nice coat of white primer. Right now I just want to get it on the road and drive her. I'll be fixing the rust holes in small sections whenever I have the time. When winter sets in she'll get parked and I'll knock out the bad parts of the floors and the rest of the bodywork.

On a side note, if you haven't noticed it has a 64' hood on it. If anyone is in need of a good 64' hood and has a decent 63' hood that they would be willing to trade me that would be awesome!:eusa_pray:

I made a little progress today. First I wire wheeled the rusty floor boards to get them ready for a coat of rust preventive paint, a temporary fix until I can actually replace the bad spots!


I was also able to get my rear end sandblasted today. Tomorrow I'll paint it with the same stuff as the floors.


And finally, I got the dual reservoir and proportioning valve installed and brake lines hooked up!

Time for a small update... got the rear end painted!

Alright, so I'm really starting to get some stuff done on this thing! I got the floor almost completely coated, and removed the old rear end and installed the new one along with some 3" drop blocks. Low and slow!!
Everything on this car has been a breeze to take apart! Its like working on a new car.

So not too much to report but got started on doing the rear brakes and got the front dust shields and caliper brackets cleaned up for paint. I also got my hood over to my buddies shop to do some modifying to so it'll look like it belongs on the car. I hate to ruin a good 64' hood but I can't find a good 63' so I gotta make do with what I have.

The first time I've ever made a patch so hopefully it works. I'm really just worried about the peak turning out right. it still needs some trimming but this is what it looks like so far.


How the hood sits right now. Hopefully tomorrow it'll be all welded up and ready for primer!

So this weekend was Greaserama! I've been trying to get the 63' on the road so I could take it to the show. Well, it didnt make it Saturday... it did however make it down Sunday afternoon! I spent all of Friday night and sunday morning getting it goin. Here are some progress pics and a few shots from the show!
