63 polara

I have a 63 polara, 500 cube eagle rotating assy comp cams cam solid roller and rockers dual inline 625 eddys car runs and pulls hard 391 gears eaton posi 8 3/4 torque flight push button headman and tti 3 inch, this is a street car and i want to put 440 stelth heads and cross ram from mancini but don't want to hurt driveability is this possible or am i dreaming. forgot to mention 3000 stall and 570 intake and 576 exhaust @ duration 242- 248 110 lobe seperation 275-60-15 protracs I'm old school 65 yrs old and still learning, but love the crossram look stuck in the 60s any help would be appreciated Thanks

I'm running the Mancini/A&A cross ram with 600 Eddy's on my 440 (+.030) with no driveability issues--behaves beautifully in traffic. Absolutely no bog if you stab it--just pins you and readily returns to idle with no problems. I think if you have problems with your car behaving in traffic, it's probably due to your engine being more radical than mine--not necessarily the induction set-up. I'd go for it--there's no substitute for the "wow factor" when I open the hood.

bobbyd welcome to FBBO, sounds like a great combo, the heads change will help allot too {I personally like the Edelbrock RPM's better, for out of the box & bolt-on replacement Aluminum heads, but are nearly twice the price as the Stealth heads too}, they're always the biggest choke point in a BB MoPar Wedge engine {especially with 500ci & near 0.600" valve lift}, also IMHO if tuned properly the Cross Ram shouldn't be a big drivability issue... good luck

I run a 440 with maxwedge heads, a factory crossram with 2 Edelbrock 500s, slightly smaller cam, 4 speed and 3:91s in my daily driver. As ilm65 said, the car starts right up, idles well and is very responsive. Mileage usually is about 10-13mpg if I keep my foot out of it. Don't need to choke it unless it's pretty cold outside and may have to jazz the throttle a few times for a few minutes, but then it settles down to a nice idle. I also am 'old school' and love the 'jaw drops' when I open the hood. Correct tuning is everything to running this combination, but it's not hard. Good luck with your project.

Coloradodave, NICE JOB! I'm curious to know how well your car brakes with the power assist. I've hesitated putting one on my car, but yours does not take away from the max wedge appearance. I'm sure they've gone up since my build (2008) but I'd be curious to know the price on the equivalent Stealth heads.

If that was meant for me, thank you very much. I am in awe of ilm65's car!
As for the power brake set-up, it's a conversion to later Mopar single piston caliper disc brakes with stock rear drums. It brakes very well with 10" vacuum. No issues at all.

I built a 440 for a buddy. 64 Fury convert,.550 hyd roller,Eddys opened to Max Wedge opening but otherwise stock,10-1,stock AFBs, crossram ,3.55 stick. Drivability is excellent after slight warm-up,14.5 MPG at cruise. He loves it.
