63 vert power brake booster +++

Thank you very much for the brake report! :) And congratulations on getting to the 'maiden voyage' part of your build!!

I own 3 1963 Plymouths with 413 & 426 max wedge engines and a 1966 Coronet 500 convert with 426 Hemi and all have manual disc brakes except my wagon--They all stop great WITHOUT power assist (booster) and Ive been driving them for many years this way as daily drivers and see no need to add a booster---just my opinion but forget the booster and enjoy the manual disc brakes fellows--they dont need the assist of a booster and stop great ---pedal pressure is light and firm and positive all the time--Ive never had an issue stopping any of my manual disc cars and my wife drove the Hemi car alot without any troubles till I built here a 69 Barracuda convert big block car---just saying-no need for a booster in these cars

Aloha, I fully understand what ur saying. Only thing my 63 came factory with P/S, P/B, P/W and AC. With a 361 BB. Now I want yo put a 426 MW clone with crossram and M/W exh. manifolds. I was hoping someone else had done it first. To make my life easy. Ha ha, Ya right. O well. Life n learn. Many thanks for the input, as i might remove my booster .C

I'm curious to know why you guys want brake boosters. In my opinion, it's just extra weight cantilevered out over the exhaust manifold, and they don't provide any better braking over a proper working master cylinder.

I fully agree. If not restoring a rare car, and you just own for fun, then by all means, build it for drivability. The modern aluminum master cylinders with the correct piston bore size are low effort and great pedal feel.

Boosters are also a problem if vacuum drops, or if the engine stalls. I've had a few "come to Jesus" moments where the engine died and I had to stop the car.
