'64 330 Street Hemi build

^^2X^^

If it were me all you'd see is a vapor trail from getting hood and scoop to the body shop for some paint.
Is it done yet...is it done yet...is it done yet.

Thanks Guys!!

We have some friends coming over today for a play date. while the girls go do "girl stuff" Rick and I will get the scoop mounted. I had lunch with an old friend yesterday, who is now a body guy for the chevy dealer in South Bend. He said he would shoot it If i wanted. I will probably take him up on that. The guy that did the car is in the process of moving and doesn't have a booth right now.

Lol GPuller. My wife asked when the interior will be done and when the hood will get painted. She hasn't been that interested up to this point but now I think she's getting anxious.

well the weekend didn't work out the way i'd planned but, crap happens... anyway here are some shots of the exterior trim clips and the interior headliner garnish clips (order isn't exactly right). some of these clips are new from restoration specialties (RS) and some are from the orig. car but all can be purchased through RS. It's important to sweat these details for the interior to turn out right as it is said; "if you don't sweat the details, you end up with entrails..."

Got tired of waiting for help so I mounted the scoop. Made some "marking" studs out of 10-24 rod and used a bit stop so I didn't plow into wires, hoses, valve covers, etc... Also found a place in Florida that converts/upgrades AM radios to FM w/additional leads for iPad, iPod, Satellite radio service so I installed the radio delete plate until the stock box comes back. 30 to 60 days.

Your car is so sick, I'm catching a cold!!!!!

I get taken back to my yute each time I see push buttons . Both granny's cars were Mopars. Alas their cars didn't look as great as yours. I'm looking forward to the next pics. Thanks for posting them.

Wow, what a transformation it has made since I last checked in in May. AWESOME!

Thanks 747. Ya know, i think we all grew up with cars that we thought were cool or had and let get away. In the 80's I owned a Pacific Northwest '64 New Yorker. Rust/Rot free. That car had class. power everything! pushbutton everything!! Then the twins came along and it was time to go economy car. Haven't seen one since with the same loaded options or condition. Oh well; life goes on and now I'm "stuck" with this!!! ;-)

Thanks C500. You have missed some stuff!! Thanks for checkin' in. I really think we're within 2-3 months on this. Limo tint (i got a guy) will probably be the last thing. i try to make a point of moving forward a little each week, if not a little each day. Between the bigger stuff, try to hit the details that can get lost in the "ether" of the large leaps. (I.E. Engine, Paint, Bright work, Glass, etc...)

Got home a little bit ago and watched the videos (they are blocked at work).......wooooooooooow! That hemi sounds awesome! Can't wait to see the finished deal.

point of detail. the seat back bumper came today. The seats really look "lazy" if these little guys aren't installed. The measurements are off the old donor car seat base and the white dot is a sewing pin used to locate the hole without damaging the fabric. a trick i learned here from HitIt. the last shot show the drivers seat with and the pass seat without, but I don't know how to turn it, soooo.....

Now That's Quality!

Went to Columbus for the Mopar nats and scored some items. A damn-near perfect cigarette lighter. guy had it inserted in a beat up '64 ashtray assy. (might have been a '65, but still period). when I pulled it out i noticed it had never been used! asked if he'd sell just the lighter; "Yes, 3 bucks." SOLD!!! also picked up some near perfect defroster vents. those things, being plastic, didn't survive well, mine are very brittle. these will be a nice upgrade. also picked up a 330 horn ring and horn bar. I will eventually replace the Polara assy, probably this winter. I'm gonna re-plate both horn bars and use the better one. Someone may want to buy the other.

The problem with getting the horn bars re-plated are the small aluminum stamped inserts glued around the center reading "Dodge Golden Anniversary" & "1914 - 1964". These need to be removed in order to not ruin the slight gold hugh that they have during stripping and re-plating. Heat is the answer to the removal issue. A good electric heat gun works nicely to soften the old adhesive and gently lifting them out. Reattaching will be no big deal with todays adhesives. After removal it's just a matter of cleaning the old "horse hoof" glue from the back side of the badges. These things are delicate and I might have DW take care of them so my fat mitts don't' run them. I'm can't imagine replacements are available.

You are a patient, patient man.
At this point there is no need to get hurried. Car looks great!

Thanks. LOL!

Over the years I've discovered that, when i try to "force" things they break. Nails, fittings, business deals, marriage(s)...

Appreciate it Bear R!!

DW is getting ready; were heading down town for "Herb Fest" (not what you think) and the Kunkle Car Show. Will probably take the Challenger!! (local show usually a good turn out). I'll post up some shots when we get back. Also, after a marathon week on the car (and work) I took Him out for a visit to the gas station today!! First run!! I'll elaborate when we return and post up some shots of the "so-close-to-done-you-can-taste-it" car.
