If you check my Avatar you will see my Poly with TTi headers. They are very nice but pricey. If you check Ebay you may find some cheaper Spitfire Poly headers from time to time much cheaper but no comparison to the TTi pieces in quality.

FYI the is a Poly website.

Blackheart,
Thanx .
What diameter pipes should be used ? What about mufflers ! What kind & size?

Ok! Headers if I can find a nice set. The new ones are to expensive! Any body got a set of Headers for a 1964 Fury with a 318 Poly motor? 2 1/2" exhaust all the way back.
Any other thoughts?
How bout Mufflers?????
What kind size etc?

This what I did because of budget,, Bought mufflers from Summit SUM-630125 $21.95 each. Took the car to my local exhaust shop and they made new 2'' head pipes about 20'' long and then stepped up to 2 1/2 thru the mufflers all the way to the back bumper.
The mufflers are quiet at first but developed a nice rumble and sound like stock muscle cars of the 60's and 70's.Whole cost including mufflers was around $300 bucks.
Big improvement in performance. The only thing I would have done different was to have them install a H or X crossover that wasn't done because I did not state I wanted one before the job. The car is now 7 years with that system.

Darter 6,
The reason for the H or X crossover is?
I did my 68 ford pick up with a 400 ci years back with glass packs & with out the crossover. Should I have done the crossover?
Did you do Headers?
And why 2" to 2 1/2"?

I guess it helps with reversion (Drone) at different RPM's and will also help horsepower by balancing the right and left banks for the engine.

oops!,,the exhaust manifolds have smaller flanges that a 2'' headpipe fit better. Also sort of like a step header, but more fit than a performance gain.
The other greatest improvement was going to a 4 bbl and a 600 Edelbrock AFB. I was lucky to find a Weiand intake new in a box at a swapmeet.
